Salih Zeki’s Âsâr-ı Bâkiye is the unique work on the history of Turco-Islamic Mathematics
in that the author, being aware of the problematic of the studies produced both in
the western as well as Muslim scholarships, based his work mainly on manuscripts.
Even today there is no Turkish work in the field as comprehensive as Zeki’s Âsâr-ı Bâ-
kiye. After giving information on the life of Salih Zeki and his studies, this short review
article will discuss the content and the place of Âsâr-ı Bâkiye in the field.
