TOHUMDA TEKELLEŞME VE ETKİLERİ

Abstract

Bugün dünyanın önde gelen on firması dünya ticari tohum satışlarının yarısından çoğunugerçekleştirmektedir.Aynı şekilde önde gelen on firma (çoğu aynı olmak üzere)tarım kimyasalları satışının %84'ünü gerçekleştirmektedir. Tohumun kontrolü vearaştırmanın az sayıda elde toplanması ile dünya gıda arzı giderek tehditlerlekarşılaşmaktadır. Bu eğilimin bir sonucu olarak, binlerce çeşit yok olmuş, tarımsal üretimgiderek suya, makinelere, tarım kimyasallarına bağımlı hale gelmiş, çiftçiler dünyada yokolmaya başlamış, açlık büyümeye devam etmiş, yediğimiz besinler lezzetini ve çeşitliliğinikaybetmeye başlamıştır. Bitki ıslahı giderek özel firmalar tarafından finanse edilmekte vegiderek az sayıda firmanın çıkar ve amaçlarına hizmet etmektedir.2006 yılında Türkiye tam olarak uygulandığında çiftçilerin tarımsal uygulamalarını yokedecek yeni bir tohumculuk kanununu TBMM'den geçirmiştir. Bu yasa ile çiftçilertohumlarını kayıt altına alınmaksızın, kendi kullanımları için koruyabilecek ve diğerçiftçilerle değiştirebileceklerdir. Ancak bunların her hangi bir şekilde satışı cezalarlakarşılaşacaktır. Bu gelişmeler biyoçeşitliliği yok etmekte, tarım kimyasallarının kullanımıarttırarak endüstriyel tarım sistemini güçlendirmekte, ürünlerin besleyici ve koruyucuözelliklerini yitirmesine yol açmaktadır

The Monopolisation of Seed and Its Effects

Abstract

Today, the top ten companies control more than half of the world's commercial seed sales.Also the top ten companies (most of them are same) control the 84% of agrochemicals sales.With control of seeds and agricultural research held in fewer hands, the world's food supply isincreasingly vulnerable. As a result of this trend thousands of varieties have disappeared,agriculture has become deeply dependent upon irrigation, machinery and agrochemicals,farmers around the world disappear, hunger continues to grow, and the food we eat has lostflavor and diversity. Plant breeding is increasingly funded by private corporations; itincreasingly serves the interests and objectives of few corporations.In 2006 the Turkish Parliament passed a law on seeds which, if it is fully implemented, willerode the farming practices of farmers. Under the new law, farmers will be able to continue tosave seeds for their own use and to exchange with other farmers without having to registerthem. But any activity on their part which hints of “trade” will invoke penalties
