An Iinvestigation on causal factors of the Tuzla Stream flooding November 16, 2007 (Silivri - Istanbul)

Abstract

Flash floods and floods occurred in various locations in Trakya region due to rainfall intensity in November 16, 2007. Silivri, which is a county of Istanbul, is one of the locations occurred the flooding and settlements and industrial areas were affected. The reasons of the flooding on the Tuzla stream, which is located in the county district, were investigated using field works after the flood event and existing digital data of the Tuzla stream watershed. As a result, physiographic characteristics of the watershed and some misapplications and mislanduses on the Tuzla stream channel and its floodplain were found as reasons of the flooding besides rainfall. Also, floods will still occur as long as mislanduses keep in the floodplain area.

16 Kasım 2007 Tuzla Deresi taşkınının nedenleri üzerine bir araştırma (Silivri-İstanbul)

Abstract

16 Kasım 2007 tarihinde meydana gelen yağışlarla Trakya üzerinde birçok alanda sel ve taşkınlar meydana gelmiştir. İstanbul’un Silivri ilçesi, taşkının meydana geldiği alanlardan birisi olup, yerleşme ve sanayi alanları sular altında kalmıştır. İlçe sınırları içinde bulunan Tuzla Deresi’nin taşması ile ortaya çıkan taşkının nedenleri, afet sonrası sahada yapılan arazi gözlemleriyle araştırılmıştır. Sahaya ait mevcut sayısal verilerin de kullanıldığı çalışmada, ilçedeki taşkın afetinin meydana gelmesinde yağışların yanında havzanın fizyografik özelliklerinin uygunluğu, dere yatağı ve taşkın yatağındaki bazı yanlış arazi kullanımlarının etkili olduğu ve bu yanlış uygulamalar devam ettiği sürece sahada taşkın afetinin tekrarlayacağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
