Amaç: Ankara’da bir çocuk hastanesi dermatoloji bölümüne başvuran çocuk hastalardaki deri hastalıkları sıklığının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Ocak-Aralık 2011 tarihleri arasında, pediatrik dermatoloji polikliniğine başvuran 0-16 yaş arası 4025 hasta değerlendirildi ve143 farklı deri hastalığı tanısı konuldu. Tanı konulan deri hastalıklarının yaş ve cinsiyete göre sıklığı belirlendi.Bulgular: Çalışmada, hastaların 2088’i (%51.9) kız, 1937’si ( 48.1) erkek olgulardı. Tüm yaş gruplarında en sık görülen ilk 10 hastalık sırasıyla; kontakt dermatit (%15.6), siğiller ( %8.7), atopik dermatit (%7.8), akne vulgaris (%6.9), seboreik dermatit (%4.3), insekt bite (%3.6), molluskum kontagiozum (%2.9), keratozis pilaris (%2.6), kserozis (%2.4), ürtiker (%2.2)’di. Akne vulgaris, keratozis pilaris, telogen effluvium ve kserozis kızlarda; atopik dermatit, pitriyazis alba, ürtiker ve alopesi areata erkeklerde daha sıktı. Yaş grubuna göre yapılan değerlendirmede 6-11 yaş aralığındakiler %32.7 (1318 hasta) oranı ile en sık başvuran yaş aralığıydı. 0-2 yaşta atopik dermatit (%63), 3-5 ve 6-11 yaşta kontakt dermatit (%23, %33), 12-16 yaşta ise akne vulgaris (%87) en sık görülen hastalıktı. Hastalıkların mevsimlere göre dağılımının incelenmesinde; ilkbaharda kontakt dermatit, seboreik dermatit, pitriyazis rosea, deri enfeksiyonları, ürtiker daha fazla görülürken; siğiller, keratozis pilaris, ter bezi hastalıkları, nevüs ve vitiligo yazın daha çoktu. Atopik dermatit, insekt bite, kserozis, telogen effluvium sonbaharda , akne vulgaris, molluskum, ürtiker, pitriyazis alba ve psoriazis kış aylarında daha sıktı.Sonuç: Çocuk hastalarda tespit edilen deri hastalıkları içerisinde en sık görülen ilk üç deri hastalığı; kontakt dermatit (%15.6), siğiller (%8.7) ve atopik dermatit (%7.8)’dir. Bunlar çoğunlukla koruyucu önlem ve eğitici programlarla azaltılabilecek hastalıklardır. Çocukların deri hastalıkları prevalansını ortaya koyan daha fazla sayıda epidemiyolojik çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır.
Objective: This study aimed at determining the prevalence of various skin disorders among pediatric patients attending outpatient clinics of the dermatology department of a children’s hospital in Ankara.Material and Methods: 4025 child patients aged between 0-16 years and attending our dermatology outpatients clinic between January 2011 and December 2011 were examined and assessed prospectively. A total of 143 different skin diseases were diagnosed. The prevalence of these skin diseases and their distribution by age and sex were investigated. Results: There were 2088 (51.9 %) female and 1937 (48.1%) male patients. The ten most common diseases in all age groups in order of frequency were contact dermatitis (15.6%), warts (8.7%), atopic dermatitis (7.8%), acne vulgaris (6.9%), seborrheic dermatitis (4.3%), insect bites (3.6 %), molluscum contagiosum (2.9%), keratosis pilaris (2.6%), xerosis (2.4%), and urticaria (2.2%). Acne vulgaris, keratosis pilaris, telogen effl uvium and xerosis were more common among girls while atopic dermatitis, pityriasis alba, urticaria and alopecia areata were more common among boys. The assessment of the patients with respect to age groups revealed that the highest rate of presentation was in the 6-11 years age group with a rate of 32.7%. Atopic dermatitis was the most common skin disorder in the 0-2 years age group (63%), contact dermatitis in the 3-5 years and 6-11 years age groups (23% and 33% respectively) and acne vulgaris in the 12-16 years age group (87%). Manuscripts submitted to the Turkish Journal of Pediatric Disease will go through a double-blind peer-review process. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two external, independent peer reviewers who are experts in the field, in order to ensure an unbiased evaluation process. The editorial board will invite an external and independent editor to manage the evaluation processes of manuscripts submitted by editors or by the editorial board members of the journal. The Editor in Chief is the final authority in the decision-making process for all submissions. Articles accepted for publication in the Turkish Journal of Pediatrics are put in the order of publication, with at least 10 original articles in each issue, taking into account the acceptance dates. If the articles sent to the reviewers for evaluation are assessed as a senior for publication by the reviewers, the section editor and the editor considering all aspects (originality, high scientific quality and citation potential), it receives publication priority in addition to the articles assigned for the next issue.
