Akut Apendisiti Taklit Eden Çekal Divertikülit Perforasyonu

Year 2012, Volume: 6 Issue: 3, 167 - 170, 01.06.2012

Abstract

CECAL DIVERTICULITIS PERFORATION MIMICKING ACUTE APPENDICITIS

Year 2012, Volume: 6 Issue: 3, 167 - 170, 01.06.2012

Abstract

Diverticulum of the caecum is a rare, benign, generally asymptomatic lesion. The reported frequency in adults is about 1 in 300 appendectomies, but there has been no report of pediatric ceacal diverticulum in literature. Most patients with inflammation of a solitary diverticulum of the caecum present with abdominal pain that is indistinguishable from acute appendicitis. Therefore the diagnosis is mostly made intraoperatively. The optimal management of this condition is still controversial, ranging from conservative antibiotic treatment to aggressive resection. We describe a 13 years- old boy who presented with symptoms of appendicitis, but at operation he was found to have an inflamed solitary diverticulum
