An R Package for AFAD Earthquake Data and Visualizations: AFADEarthQuakeData

Abstract
Earthquakes are destructive natural events whose occurrence can be triggered by many different factors. Due to the tangible and intangible damages caused by earthquakes, determination and prediction of earthquake risk is of great importance. Therefore, there is a need for interdisciplinary studies on earthquake data and the processing of these data to draw meaningful conclusions. In this study, it is aimed to transfer the earthquakes in the database of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) to the R environment with the help of a package on R, an open source statistical software, according to certain characteristics. In addition, some simple mapping and visualization functions that provide graphics of basic statistics along with maps for earthquake data are also included in the package. It was thought that transferring the data to the R environment would enable statistical and earthquake analysis to be easily applied and used in earthquake studies with the help of a powerful open source software such as R.

AFAD Deprem Veri ve Görselleştirmelerine İlişkin Bir R Paketi: AFADEarthQuakeData

Abstract
Depremler oluşumu birçok farklı etken tarafından tetiklenebilen yıkıcı doğa olaylarıdır. Deprem sonucu oluşan gerek maddi gerek manevi zararlar nedeni ile deprem riskinin belirlenmesi ve tahmini büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Dolayısı ile ülkemizde deprem verilerine ve bu verilerin işlenerek anlamlı sonuçlar çıkarılmasına ilişkin disiplinler arası çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada T.C. İçişleri Bakanlığı Afet ve Acil Durum Yönetimi Başkanlığı (AFAD) veri tabanında yer alan depremlerin belirli özelliklerine göre açık kaynak bir istatistik yazılımı olan R üzerine bir paket yardımı ile R ortamına aktarılması amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca deprem verisine ilişkin basit birkaç haritalama ve temel istatistiklerine ilişkin grafiklerinin haritalar ile birlikte elde edilmesini sağlayan görselleştirme fonksiyonlarına da pakette yer verilmiştir. Verinin R ortamına aktarılması, R gibi güçlü bir açık kaynak yazılımı yardımı ile istatistiksel ve deprem analizlerinin kolayca uygulanabilmesi ve deprem çalışmalarında kullanılmasına imkân sağlayabileceği düşünülmüştür.
