The Effect of Persian on the Language and Life of Uzbek Turks Living in Khoja Bahauddin District of Tahar Province of Afghanistan

Abstract

Those who call the age we live in the "information age" argue that nations communicate with each other correctly and healthily by using information. The importance of language and the language of education in the transfer and development of knowledge cannot be ignored. Language and tradition are very important for the development and growth of a society. People express their self-identity, cultural ties, and aspirations through their language. Recently, language has emerged as a very curious research topic. Rich languages such as Turkish have changed throughout history, resulting in the emergence of new Turkic dialects. In this context, education in the mother tongue will create a society that is committed to its traditions and will enable the individuals of that society to develop faster and more effectively. There is evidence in the literature that children who are taught in their mother tongue learn more quickly than those who are not taught in their mother tongue. It is possible to see with the naked eye how painful and difficult this situation is in a country like Afghanistan. This research focuses on the Khoja Bahauddin district of Tahar province of South Turkestan, where Turkic tribes live densely in Afghanistan, the status, speaking style, writing, and reading of Uzbek Turkish in the district; the influence and pressure of other languages, especially Persian, on Uzbek, and the analysis of the problems arising from this interaction, and finally, what kind of society these problems create, and at the same time, effective and easy strategies to overcome these problems are investigated.
