Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty Journal of Research in Elementary Education (JREE) is a refereed scientific publication which is published biannually including theoretical and field-based scientific research on the topics that fall into the scope of Pre-school and Primary School Teaching without any charges from researchers.

The Journal of Research in Elementary Education (JREE) includes scientific studies in association with all the disciplines within the scope of pre-school and primary education. Studies sent to the journal are expected to be based on research, contribute to the field, make recommendations concerning field practices, be up-to-date and follow novel and different developments in the field of pre-school and primary education. In addition, it is important that the studies that can be published by the Journal were not previously published or accepted for publication in any other media.

If the submitted manuscripts have been presented in congress, symposiums or scientific meetings, the title, location and date of such organizations must be indicated, if the study receives support, information must be provided on the name of the concerning institute, project title, date, issue and number.

Publication Policy

Publication processes in Marmara University Ataturk Education Faculty Journal of Research in Elementary Education set the basis for the objective and prestigious development and communication of knowledge. In this regard, our journal expects all shareholders to undertake the following responsibilities on the basis of publication ethics. The responsibilities were generated in accordance with the guidelines published by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as open access.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
The Author(s) are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
- The studies submitted must be original.
- Persons who have not contributed to the study at the sicentific level should not be indicated as author.
- Any conditions and relationships that could be subject of conflicting interests must be explained.
- During the review process of their manuscripts, author(s) may be asked to supply raw data. The author(s) are required to submit such data and information to the publication board.
- Author(s) should document that they have tihe right to use the data that are used, the necessary permissions related with the research/analysis and the participants' consent.
- Author(s) bears the responsibility to cooperate with the editors during the informing the editor or publisher, correction or withdrawal processes.
- Any study that has been published in another journal cannot be submitted to Marmara University Ataturk Education Faculty Journal of Research in Elementary Education.
- Such actions as adding an author, reordering author names, excluding an author etc. cannot be offered.

Responsibilities of Editors
The editor and field editors of the Journal of Research in Elementary Education (JREE) should hold the following ethical responsibilities that are based on the guides "COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and "COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" published as open Access by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):
- Editors evaluate the manuscripts according to their scientific content regardless of the authors’ ethnic origin, gender, gender preference, nationality, religious belief or political philosophy.
- Editors ensure a fair double-blind review process for the manuscripts to be published.
- Editors ensure that all the information pertaining to the manuscript are kept confidential until publication.
- Editors are responsible for the content and total quality of the publication. They make corrections if necessary.
- The editor should not allow any conflicting interest or competition to occur among the authors, editors and reviewers.
- Only the editor holds full authority to appoint judges in Marmara University Ataturk Education Faculty Journal of Research in Elementary Education and the editor himself/herself is responsible for the final decision about the publication of the articles.
- The editor ensures the continuous development of the journal.
- Editors must make positive or negative decisions about the studies' importance, originality, validity, clarity in wording and suitability with the journal's aims and objectives.
- “Blind Review and Review Process” must be published and editors must prevent possible diversions in the defined processes.
- Editors must publish an Author's Guide that covers all subjects to be expected by authors in detail. This guide must be updated at certain intervals.
- Authors should be provided with explanatory and informative feedback.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers evaluate the manuscripts according to their scientific content regardless of the authors’ ethnic origin, gender, gender preference, nationality, religious belief or political philosophy.
- There must be no conflicting interest or competition for reviewers about the research, authors or supporters
- Reviewer decisions must be objective.
- Reviewers must indicate publications that are not cited by the author or associated publications that were published.
- Reviewers are responsible for the confidentiality of all the information about the manuscripts submitted and for informing the editor in the case of any copyright infringement or plagiarism by authors.
- When the reviewer thinks that a manuscript is not related with his/her scientific field or knowledge, or if he/she will be unable to conduct a quick review, he/she must inform the editor and request to relieve from the evaluation process.
- Reviewers must accept to review studies in their own fields of expertize only.
- Reviews must be conducted with objectivity and confidentiality.

Protection of personal data
Editors are responsible for the protection of personal data pertaining to the participants or images included in the studies reviewed. They are expected to reject the study unless the consent of the participants is documented clearly. In addition, editors are responsible for protecting the personal data of authors, reviewers and readers.

Protection of Intellectual property rights
Editors are responsible for protecting the intellectual property right of all the articles published and defend the rights of the journal and author(s) in the case of possible plagiarism. Moreover, editors assume the responsibility to take all necessary measures to prevent the contents of the articles published in the journal to violate the intellectual property rights of other publications.

Complaints
Editors must carefully evaluate the complaints from authors, reviewers or readers and make enlightening and informative responses.

Conflicting Interests
Editors observe the conflicts of interest among author(s), reviewers and other editors and ensure that the publication process of studies is completed in an independent and objective way.

Ethical Responsibilities of Publisher
The Journal of Research in Elementary Education is a non-profit public benefit publication. In this respect, the publisher undertakes the following ethical responsibilities:
- Editors are responsible for all the processes of the studies submitted to the journal. In this respect, editors are the persons to make decisions ignoring economic or political interests.
- The Publisher ensures the production or an independent editor decision.
- The Publisher protects the property right and copyright of each article published in the journal and undertakes the responsibility of keeping records of each published copy.
- The Publisher holds the responsibility to take necessary measures for all kinds of scientific misconduct, citation inflation and plagiarism for editors.

Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty Journal of Research in Elementary Education (JREE) is publication free of charge. The Journal does not charge authors and readers any fees.
