CONTENT ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM AND TEXTBOOKS BASED NATIONAL AND UNIVERSAL VALUES

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the contents of the coursebooks and the syllabus of the Social Studies in primary education in terms of the national and universal values determined by the help of the specialists to illustrate the relation of the syllabuses and coursebooks to these values. The survey method was used and for data collection an observation form was developed. The descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data. Based on the findings of this research, it can be stated that there is a significant difference regarding the frequency of the use of national and universal value categories between the primary level and middle level of education both in the curriculum and in the textbooks. However, the study concluded national and universal value categories were more evenly distributed in the curriculum.

İLKÖĞRETİM SOSYAL BİLGİLER PROGRAMININ VE DERS KİTAPLARININ ULUSAL VE EVRENSEL DEĞERLER YÖNÜNDEN İÇERİK ÇÖZÜMLEMESİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler Programı ile Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarının, uzmanlar desteğiyle belirlenen, ulusal ve evrensel değer kategorileri açılarından nasıl bir görünüm sergilediğini ortaya koymaktır. Tarama modelinin kullanıldığı araştırmada verilerin toplanması için, ulusal ve evrensel değerleri belirten kelime ve ifadeleri saptamada kullanılan “gözlem formu” geliştirilmiştir. Veriler betimsel istatistik ve Chi-Square testi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına dayalı olarak, birinci kademe Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarında ulusal değerlere ağırlık verildiği, ulusal ve evrensel değer kategorilerinin kullanılma sıklığı bakımından kademeler arasında anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu, ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler programında, ders kitaplarına oranla, ulusal ve evrensel değer kategorilerinin daha dengeli dağılım gösterdiği sonuçlarına varılmıştır.
