Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenlerinin öğrencilerine karşı ayırım yapıp yapmadığını, öğrencilerin bundan nasıl etkilendiğini ve farklı davranılan öğrencilerin sınıf içindeki akademik ve sosyal davranışlarını belirlemektir. 900’ü eğitim fakültesi, 465’i ilköğretim ikinci kademe ve 213’ü de lise olmak üzere 1578 öğrenci araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Bu öğrencilere ilkokul yaşantılarına ilişkin sorular yöneltilmiştir. Sonuçlar göstermektedir ki, öğretmenlerin %92,8’i yüksek ve düşük beklenti geliştirdikleri öğrencilere farklı davranmaktadırlar. Yüksek beklenti geliştirilen öğrencilerin %69,1’i, düşük beklenti geliştirilen öğrencilerin %32,7’si ön sıralarda oturmaktadır. Yüksek beklenti geliştirilen öğrencilerin %84,4’ü bu ayrımdan olumlu etkilendiğini, düşük beklenti geliştirilen öğrencilerin %66,2’si olumsuz etkilendiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca, yüksek beklenti geliştirilen öğrencilerin sınıf içindeki akademik ve sosyal davranışları daha olumludur.

EXEMINATION OF THE SITUATIONS IN WHICH CLASSROOM TEACHERS TREAT DIFFERENTLY TO THEIR STUDENTS IN TERMS OF SOME VARIABLES AFFECTING THESE TREATMENTS

Abstract

The goal of this investigation is to elicit whether classroom teachers treat differently to their students or not, how the teachers treat differently, and how the academic and social behaviours of the students who the teachers treat differently in the classroom are. The sample of the investigation consisted of 1578 students; 900 of them from school of education, 465 secondary school and 213 high school students. Some questions were directed to the students about their experiences when they attended elementary school. The results indicated that % 92.8 of the teachers treated differently to high and low-expected students in their classrooms. %69.1 of high- expected students and %32.7 of the low-expected students placed the seats of front of the classrooms. The majority of the high-expected students (% 84.4)) mentioned that these different treatments affected them in a positive way, while % 66.2 of the low-expected students mentioned negative effects. Also, the academic and social behaviours of the high expected students were more positive than those of the low-expected students
