The Evaluation of the International Collabaration and the Partnership of Pharmacologists and Clinicians When Laying The Foundation of The Rational Pharmacotherapy Clerkship in Gazi University Medical School

Abstract

The aim of the manuscript is to share our experience with other faculties that are planning to start RPT training by presenting the content and the results of an education model while building the roots of Rational Pharmacotherapy clerkship for the fifth year students in Gazi University Medical School (GUMS). In that way we aim to. Before the training, GUMS has organised a 3- day workshop with Dalhousie University School of Medicine- Canada in order to determine and to inform the academic staff who are interested in RPT. Another aim of the workshop was to help both pharmacologists and clinicans to understand the importance of the subject and increase their interest to the field of RPT. 60 people from various fields attended the workshop. All attendants agreed that RPT training should take part during the undergraduate medical education. A few months later, all academic faculty who wanted to train the students also attended the “ Training of Trainers” course for 7 days. 11 clinicians from 8 different fields and 3 pharmacologists took role as a trainer during the RPT training. In this model, RPT training is repeated in 9 groups and one clinician and one pharmacologist acted as a trainer in each group. Although the notes from the workshop and the clerkship have been introduced in details in the manuscript, the feedback of the students and the trainers for the clerkship revealed that, this model gave an oppurtunity to students to work one to one with clinicians from different fields and helped clinicians to understand the scope of pharmacologists in the selection of the appropiate drugs and the importance of RPT training.

GAZİ ÜNİVERSİTESİ TIP FAKÜLTESİNDE AKILCI İLAÇ KULLANIMI STAJININ TEMELLERİNİN ATILMASINDA ULUSLAR ARASI İŞBİRLİĞİNİN VE FARMAKOLOG-KLİNİSYEN ORTAKLIĞININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Bu makalenin amacı, Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nde (GÜTF) Dönem 5 öğrencilerine yönelik olarak 2006-2007 Eğitim döneminde uygulamaya konulan Akılcı İlaç Kullanımı (A.K) stajının temellerini atarken, planladığımız bir eğitim modelinin içeriğini ve sonuçlarını sunmak ve bu stajı önümüzdeki yıllarda uygulamayı düşünen diğer fakültelerle deneyimlerimizi paylaşmaktır. Staj öncesinde GÜTF’de A.K konusuna ilgi duyan öğretim üyelerinin belirlenmesi ve konu hakkında bilgilendirilebilmeleri amacıyla, Kanada Dalhousie Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi ve GÜTF isbirligi ile 3 gün süren bir çalıştay düzenlenmiştir. Çalıştayın bir diğer amacı da, A.K stajında daha sonra eğitici olarak görev alacak olan farmakologların yanı sıra klinisyenlerin de konunun önemini kavramaları ve konuya olan ilgilerini arttırmaktır. Çalıştaya, farklı uzmanlık alanlarından 60 kisi katılmıştır. Tüm katılımcılar çalıştay sonrası alınan geri bildirimlerde “A.K stajının mezuniyet öncesi tıp eğitiminde yer alması gerektiğini” vurgulamışlardır. Çalıştay sonrasında stajda eğitici olarak yer alabileceğini belirten öğretim üyeleri, daha sonraki bir tarihte A.K stajı için özel olarak planlanmış olan 7 günlük “eğiticilerin eğitimi” kursuna da katılmışlardır. Bu eğitimlerin sonunda stajda eğitici olarak 8 farklı klinik branştan toplam 11 adet öğretim üyesi ve 3 adet farmakolog görev almıştır. Bu modelde, A.K stajı senede 12 kez tekrar edilmekte ve her staj grubunda Farmakoloji Anabilim dalından bir öğretim üyesinin yanı sıra bir de klinisyen öğretim üyesi yer almaktadır. Çalıştay ve staja ait notlar makalede detaylı olarak sunulmakla birlikte özetle, su ana kadar elde ettiğimiz öğrenci ve eğitici geri bildirimleri, Farmakoloji Ab. D. olarak A.K stajını klinisyen öğretim üyeleri ile beraber uygulamamızın, öğrencilerin kliniklerdeki farklı branşlardan hocalarla 5 gün boyunca birebir çalışma ve tartışma olanağı bulmalarını sağladığını; klinikteki hocalarımızın ise bu eğitimlerde rol almalarının uygun ilaç seçimi konusunda farmakologların bakış açısını anlamada ve bu eğitimin önemini kavramada faydalı olduğunu göstermektedir.
