Most important factor constituting the garment cost is the fabric consumption. Productivity analysis must be concentrated on fabric, which is the most important element making-up the gannent. Model and size of the garment, fabric width and assortment plan determine the fabric usage for a garment. Unit meter of a garment changes according to the fabric width. The aim of this research is to determine the optimum fabric width for the production of classic denim pants. The reason of selecting classic denim pant is that it is independent from the fashion, and it is a modeJ, which is aJways in the production of the plants. Also effect of assortment plans on the unit meter is investigated. In this research, 23 different fabric widths, 4 different assortment plans were selected and 92 markers were prepared on the CAD system. When the fabric utilization percentage and lay Jength of the marker are
studied, most appropriate fabric width is found as 149 centimeter.
