Abstract

Ramie; that has been being grown in the Far East for many centr~ries is a vegetable fibre. The ramie fibres have been used for a wide variety of products in the Far East and they have regained importance in American and European markets in 1980's. Recently rhe production and processing of ramie have been studied widely and ramie fibres have been used alone and blended with other fibres in the production of various types of fabrics. In this paper; properties, production and uses of ramie fibres are briefly outlined.

Abstract

Rami; yiizydlardan beri Uzakdoguda yetigtirilmekte olan bir bitkisel liftir. aellikle Uzakdoguda rami lifleri yaygzn olarak kullanilmy ve 1980% ydlarda yeniden Amerika ve Avrupa pazarlarlnda onem kazanmytrr. Son ydlarda rami iiretimi ve lif eldesi uzerinde genis ppll plqdrnakta ve rami lifleri pjitli kumaglarin iiretimde tek bapa ya da dig'er l$erle karpm geklinde kullandmaktad~r. Bu makalede, rami l$erinin iizelliklerine, iiretimine ve kullanimina klsaca deginilmigtir.
