SOME APPROACHES ON YARN HAIRINESS AND ITS CAUSES

Abstract

Yarn hairiness is caused by the fibres protruding out of the spun yarns thus imparting it a fuzzy appearance. Excessively hairy yarns probably give rise to many serious problems during furtherprocessing stages and in their end uses. So, it is necessary to prevent hairiness while producing yarns. Otherwise, trying to remove hairs from yarn or fabric surface, by applying aftertreatments, increases production costs. For this reason, a lot of investigations were being made to determine the factors which affect on yarn hairiness.
