ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
"Tekstil ve Mühendis" is a journal that publishes original scientific research and noteworthy applied studies, aiming to address both researchers and engineers in practice. The journal includes scientific, technical, and economic studies related to textiles. These manuscripts may be in the form of original research articles prepared in accordance with the author guidelines, or review articles developed by comprehensively examining a topic based on sufficient scholarly sources. For manuscripts submitted for publication, the ethical principles recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org) are taken into consideration for authors, reviewers, and editors, as outlined below.
The Editorial Board acts in accordance with COPE guidelines in cases of alleged scientific misconduct, including but not limited to plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, data manipulation, redundant publication, salami slicing, inappropriate authorship, misleading statements, and failure to comply with ethical standards in research involving human or animal subjects.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
· Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the author guidelines available at https://www.tekstilvemuhendis.org.tr/en/for_authors/ and submit the completed copyright transfer form together with the manuscript.
· Authors must declare that the submitted manuscript has not been submitted to another journal, has not been accepted elsewhere, and has not been previously published.
· Authors must ensure that all studies involving human or animal subjects comply with national and international laws and regulations, confirm that the necessary approvals have been obtained, and respect the privacy of participants. Relevant ethics committee approvals and research details must be clearly stated in the Materials and Methods section. If required, the Ethics Committee Approval document must also be uploaded to the system during submission.
· It must be clearly stated whether legal or special permissions are required for the study. If the study involves an application conducted within an institution, the permission obtained from the relevant institution must be explicitly indicated, including the date and the decision or reference number.
· All sources of financial or institutional support must be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section of the manuscript.
· Any conflicts of interest related to the submitted manuscript must be disclosed and explained.
· Individuals who have not made intellectual or practical contributions to the study must not be listed as authors.
· Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the data related to the study, maintaining proper records of their research, and providing access to these data upon reasonable request.
· If authors identify an error in their work, they must inform the editor and the editorial board and cooperate in the process of correction or retraction.
· If changes such as adding/removing authors or altering the order of authors are required after the evaluation process has begun, a request must be submitted to the editorial board with the approval of all authors.
· The authors must ensure that the manuscript does not include more than 10% to published content according to the similarity rules of the journal.
· If the AI tools are used to generate content which are references, text, images or any other forms must be disclosed by the authors.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
· Editors shall strive to improve the quality of the journal and contribute to its continuous development. They are responsible for reviewing and enhancing the publication and author guidelines.
· Editors must evaluate submitted manuscripts based on their content, act objectively and fairly without discrimination, and assign reviewers who are appropriate for the subject of the manuscript.
· Editors must take necessary measures to prevent potential conflicts of interest and evaluate any existing declarations accordingly.
· Editors shall guide reviewers throughout the evaluation process and provide any information requested.
· The peer review process must be conducted using a double-blind review system.
· Editors must take appropriate measures to ensure that reviewers evaluate manuscripts in a timely, objective, and scientific manner.
· In the case of complaints regarding ethical violations, editors must follow the journal’s policies and procedures and take the necessary actions.
· Editors are responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of all submitted and published manuscripts.
· Editors must provide clear and informative responses to complaints and inquiries from reviewers, authors, and readers.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
· Reviewers must contribute to the editor’s decision-making process by evaluating manuscripts objectively and in a timely manner, and should only accept manuscripts related to their area of expertise.
· Reviewers should provide constructive feedback aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript and evaluate the study with due diligence. Comments should be communicated to the authors in a constructive and respectful manner.
· In the event of any conflict of interest or relationship, reviewers must inform the editor and refrain from evaluating the manuscript.
· Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all information provided by the editor and the authors. If there is any situation that violates the principles of double-blind review, they must inform the editor and decline to review the manuscript.
· Reviewers should not use AI in any stage of peer-review processes of manuscript.
PUBLICATION POLICY
Tekstil ve Mühendis publishes scientific, technical, and economic studies related to textiles. The published articles present significant findings from scientific research that introduce new concepts, innovative technologies, and an improved understanding of textile materials, processes, chemistry, and systems. These manuscripts may be in the form of original research articles prepared in accordance with the author guidelines or review articles developed through comprehensive evaluation of relevant literature.
Submission of Manuscripts
Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the author guidelines available at https://www.tekstilvemuhendis.org.tr/en/for_authors/ and submit them via the DergiPark Journal Management System (https://dergipark.org.tr), together with the completed copyright transfer form available at the same address.
Peer Review Process
· Manuscripts submitted to the journal are first subjected to a preliminary evaluation by the editors in terms of both format and scientific content.
· Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated anonymously by at least two reviewers, whose identities are kept confidential, in accordance with the double-blind peer review process.
· The average review period is approximately 8 weeks.
· The order of publication for accepted manuscripts is determined by the editors of the journal.
Correction and Retraction Procedures
· The corresponding author may withdraw a manuscript under preliminary evaluation via the DergiPark system.
· For manuscripts that have completed the review process and have been accepted, no changes to authorship (including author names or order) are permitted.
