Cinderella and Narcissus Complex in Duygu Asena’s Novel “The Woman Has No Name”

Abstract

Myths that have existed since the beginning of the individual's adventure in the world are the sources used to understand the psychology and predicaments of the individual. Myths shed light on one's real and spiritual journey. Following myths from the outer world to the inner world brings the person together with psychology. Many complexes that enter the psychology literature arise from mythology. In this context, the science of psychomythology, which is a combination of psychology and mythology and emerges as a result of examining myths with psychodynamic methods, also defends this idea. Psychomythology is an interdisciplinary field of study that explains the spiritual aspect of the individual through mythical stories and brings the human story from archaic humans to modern humans. Psychomythology approaches myths in terms of purpose, root, cause and subject. In addition, psychoanalytic practice, which is a psychomythological analysis method, is a sub-branch of psychomythology. It examines the story of the hero and his place in the story and creates the 'narratology of the soul' by collaborating with fields such as literature, history, sociology and biology. In this study, psychomythology will be examined in Duygu Asena's novel Kadının Adı Yok, which showed itself in the political-social and literary life of the 1990s. The general purpose of the study is to analyze the heroes in the novel “Kadının Adı Yok” from a psychological perspective. While making this analysis, instead of using the traditional analysis method, complexes based on mythological stories will be used. In this way, it is assumed that a new perspective will be brought to the analysis of the person cast and attention will be drawn to the field of psychomythology.
