Aristoteles’in Varlık ve Düşünce Anlayışında Tamamlanmışlık Sorunu

Abstract

Eskiçağda felsefenin gelişmesine önemli katkılarda bulunmuş olan Aristoteles tarafından gündeme getirilen tamamlanmışlık; varlıkların, kendilerini gerçekleştirmek suretiyle erişmeye çalıştığı mükemmellik durumuna işaret eden bir ilkedir. Aristoteles’in varlık ile düşünce nazariyesinde mühim bir yer tutan bu ilke, doğal olarak filozofun inşa etmek istediği sistemin ana kavramlarıyla yakın bir ilişki içerisindedir. Nitekim gerek evrende gerekse de akılda vuku bulan süreçlerin anlaşılmasında bir nirengi noktası olarak görülen tamamlanmışlık; gerçekleşmiş olup olmadıklarını dikkate alarak varlıkları bilkuvve veya bilfiil, düşünceleri ise belirsiz veya belirli diye sınıflandırmayı sağlayan temel bir ölçüttür. Üstelik buna binaen Aristoteles; tamamlanmış olan bilfiil varlıklar ile belirli düşünceleri felsefenin konusu saymışken, tamamlanmamış olan bilkuvve varlıklar ile belirsiz düşünceleri felsefenin konu alanından tasfiye etmiştir. Ne var ki filozofun felsefe anlayışında esaslı bir rol oynayan tamamlanmışlık ilkesinin taşıdığı ehemmiyet, ülkemizdeki araştırmacılar tarafından henüz büsbütün kavranamadığı için, çoğu kez görmezden gelinmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu durum, söz konusu ilkeyi felsefe camiamız için takdim ve teşrih edilmesi gereken ciddi bir sorun hâline getirmiştir. Açıklayıcı yöntem eşliğinde hazırlanmış olan elinizdeki metin, yukarıda bahsedilen soruna çözüm üreterek Türkçe felsefe yazınına katkı sunmak niyetiyle kaleme alınmıştır. Aristoteles’in varlık ve düşünce telakkisini tamamlanmışlık ilkesi merkezinde yorumlamaya girişen bu makale, bahis konusu ilkeye işlerlik kazandırıp ele alınan meseleler hakkında doğru çıkarımlara ulaşabilmek için elverişli bir çerçeve oluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır. Tamamlanmışlık ilkesini ontolojik ve epistemolojik bağlamda tarihsel uzantılarıyla birlikte irdeleyen çalışmamız, bu ilkenin Aristotelesçi felsefe için bir kilit taşı olduğunu kanıtlama iddiasındadır. Zira Aristoteles’in ileri sürdüğü fikirleri, tamamlanmışlık ilkesini hesaba katmadan, isabetli şekilde tahlil ve idrak edebilmek mümkün değildir.

The Problem of Completedness in Aristotle’s Understanding of Being and Thought

Abstract

Completedness, introduced by Aristotle, who made significant contributions to the development of philosophy in ancient age, is a principle that refers to the state of perfection that beings strive to reach by actualizing themselves. This principle, which has an important place in Aristotle’s theory of being and thought, is naturally closely related to the main concepts of the system that the philosopher wanted to construct. As a matter of fact, completedness, which has been seen a reference point in understanding the processes that occur both in the universe and in the reason, is a fundamental criterion that enables to classify beings as potential or actual, and thoughts as indefinite or definite, taking into account whether they have actualized or not. Moreover, based on this, Aristotle considered actual beings and definite thoughts as the subjects of philosophy, because they are completed, while he excluded potential beings and indefinite thoughts from the subject area of philosophy, because they are incompleted. However, the importance of the principle of completedness, which plays a fundamental role in the philosopher’s understanding of philosophy, is often overlooked because it has not yet been fully grasped by researchers in our country. Therefore, this situation has made the aforementioned principle a serious problem that needs to be presented and analyzed for our philosophical community. The text you hold in your hands, prepared with explanatory method, was written with the intention of contributing to Turkish philosophical literature by providing a solution to the problem mentioned above. This article, which attempts to interpret Aristotle’s conception of being and thought centered on the principle of completedness, aims to establish a suitable framework for making the principle in question functional and so reaching true conclusions about the issues discussed. Our study, which scrutinizes the principle of completedness together with its historical extensions in ontological and epistemological context, claims to prove that this principle is a keystone of Aristotelian philosophy. Because it is not possible to accurately analyze and comprehend the ideas asserted by Aristotle without taking into account the principle of completedness.
