In Memory of Şerif Mardin: A Small Contribution to the Secondary Literature
Abstract
Şerif Mardin is a thinker focused on the Turkish modernization. At the intersection
of social and political sciences, Mardin has discussed this problem by analyzing many intermadiary
problems. In this respect, he followed the social scientific developments both
in Turkey and in the world and studied in interaction with many kind of theoretical and
methodological approach. The issue of this work is philoso phical origin of Mardin’s social
science approach that is primary theme of his intermadiary problems. So the aim of this
study is to try to describe the methodological assumptions of his philosophy of social science
following the general course of his thought.
