Amaç: Hemşirelerin santral venöz katetere bağlı kan dolaşım yolu enfeksiyonlarının önlenmesine yönelik uygulamalarını belirlemektir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı araştırma 01-17 Temmuz 2019 tarihleri arasında Ankara il merkezinde bulunan bir hastanede çalışan 261 hemşirenin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, hemşirelerin sosyo-demografik özellikleri ile santral venöz katetere bağlı kan dolaşım yolu enfeksiyonunu önleme uygulamalarına yönelik oluşturulan soru formu kullanılarak toplanmış ve SPSS 20.0 formatında sayı, yüzdelik, student-t testi ve oneway ANOVA testi ile değerlendirilmiştir.
Bulgular: Hemşirelerin %77.0’si lisans mezunu olup, %76.6’sı santral venöz kateter bakımı ile ilgili eğitim aldıklarını ve %60.5’i çalıştığı kurumda kateter bakımına ilişkin protokol bulunduğunu belirtmiştir. Ayrıca hemşirelerin %95.4’ü kateter bakımından önce her zaman ellerini yıkadığını ifade etmiştir. Hemşirelerin santral venöz katetere bağlı kan dolaşım yolu enfeksiyonlarının önlenmesine yönelik uygulamalarına verdikleri cevaplardan aldıkları puanlar ortalama 56.10 ± 7.31 olarak bulunmuştur.
Sonuç: Santral venöz kateter bakımının doğru uygulanmasıyla enfeksiyonlar önlenebilmektedir. Hemşireler bu bakımın gerçekleştirilmesinde önemli bir role sahiptirler. Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin de uygulamaları doğru bir şekilde gerçekleştirdikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Aim: To determine the practices of nurses for the prevention of bloodstream infections due to central venous catheter.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with the participation of 261 nurses working in a hospital in Ankara center between 01-17 July 2019. The data were collected using a questionnaire created for the socio-demographic characteristics of the nurses and their practices to prevent blood circulation tract infection due to central venous catheter and number, percentage, student-t test and oneway ANOVA test were used in SPSS 20.0 format.
Results: 77.0% of the nurses were bachelor degree, 76.6% of them stated that they received training on central venous catheter care and 60.5% of them stated that there was a protocol for catheter care in their institution.In addition, 95.4% of the nurses stated that they always wash their hands before catheter care. The mean scores obtained by the nurses from their responses to practices for the prevention of bloodstream infections due to central venous catheter were found to be 56.10 ± 7.31.
Conclusion: Infections can be prevented with correct application of central venous catheter care. Nurses play an important role in the realization of this care. It was concluded that the nurses participating in this study also performed the applications correctly.
