Abstract

Bu inceleme çağdaş İngiliz tiyatro yazarı Ahmed Masoud’un The Shroud Maker (2018) isimli oyununun bir değerlendirmesini sunmaktadır. İlk gösterimi 14 Mayıs 2018’de Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’ta yapılan oyun, 2014 Gazze-İsrail Savaşı sırasında yaşananları anlatmakla birlikte neredeyse bir asırlık Filistin tarihini ve direnişini de izleyicinin dikkatine sunar. Savaşın psikolojik etkileri ve Filistinlilerin yaşadıkları travmaları insan hakları temelinde ele alan The Shroud Maker, Filistinlilerin mücadele ile geçen gündelik hayatlarını sahneye taşır. Bu inceleme, oyunun 2024 yılında Edinburgh Fringe Festivali kapsamında Pleasance Dome’daki gösterimine dayanmaktadır.

Abstract

This review presents an analysis of The Shroud Maker (2018), a play by contemporary British playwright Ahmed Masoud. Premiered on 14 May 2018 at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, the play not only depicts events during the 2014 Gaza-Israel War but also brings nearly a century of Palestinian history and resistance to the audience’s consideration.
The play, which addresses the psychological effects of war and the trauma experienced by Palestinians from a human rights perspective, brings the daily lives of Palestinians, shaped by their struggle, to the stage. This review is based on the stage production of the play at Pleasance Dome as a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
