TJAA aims to publish astronomy and astrophysics studies. TJAA will also be a common ground for proceedings (workshops, schools, meeting etc.) of these subjects especially proceedings of National Astronomy Conferences known as UAK. These type of articles could be published in TJAA as a special issue. To apply for publishing a special issue please follow TJAA Special Issue Guidelines (in Turkish).
It publishes original peer-reviewed national and international full-length original scientific research articles semi-annually in June and December for the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and space sciences, preferably written in English or Turkish. Articles are expected to be new, or to propose new methods, or to bring a new dimension to existing knowledge.
The following article types are accepted in TJAA: Editorial, Research Article, Review Article, Research Note, Dissertation, Conference Paper, Meeting Abstract and Correction.
Technical notes, letters to the editors, case studies and surveys are not published in the journal.
Articles submitted to the journal for publication must be prepared with journal's own LaTeX template. The package contains all necessary information as well as a sample article which can be filled by copy-pasting from your own work text:
Manuscripts can be written in English (preferred) or Turkish. However, in either case authors should provide meta-data (title, abstract, key words) in both languages.
Three forms have to be submitted along the full text manuscript: Copyright Transfer Form, Conflict of Interest Form, Author Contribution Form.
The following article types can be submitted to TJAA:
Type | Description |
Editorial | This type is special to TJAA Boards which is used for publishing news and announcements about the journal. |
Research Article | Use this type for detailed studies reporting original research. They include hypothesis, background study, methods, results, interpretation of findings, and a discussion of possible implications. |
Review Article | Review articles provide critical and constructive analysis of existing published literature in a field. They’re usually structured to provide a summary of existing literature, analysis, and comparison. Often, they identify specific gaps or problems and provide recommendations for future research. |
Research Note | Use this type for sharing works in progress, comments and clarifications, null results, and timely reports of observations (such as the spectrum of a supernova), as well as results that wouldn’t traditionally merit a full paper (such as contributions to the monitoring of variable sources, eclipse and transit timing etc.). |
Dissertation | Summary of completed graduate studies (M.Sc. and Ph.D.). |
Conference Paper | Use this type for works which are presented in a national or international conference, symposia, workshop etc. |
Meeting Abstract | Abstract of a Conference Paper. |
Correction | A Correction notice will be issued when it is necessary to correct an error or omission which can impact the interpretation of the article. Examples include mislabeling of a figure, missing key information on funding or competing interests of the authors. |
The Turkish Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics (TJAA) is a scientific research journal founded in August 1st, 2019. It publishes original peer-reviewed national and international research semi-annually in June and December for the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and space sciences, preferably written in English or Turkish. Articles are expected to be new, or to propose a new method, or to bring a new dimension to existing knowledge.
The following article types are accepted in TJAA:
TJAA is published biannually. Issues will be published on every June 30th and December 31th.
Manuscripts submitted for publication should not be published anywhere or sent to any other journals for publication. They are evaluated by national and/or international reviewers. Reviewers are not notified to the authors (blind peer review). The editorial board considers the peer reviewers’ reports and make the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript for publication.
Manuscripts submitted for publication should be prepared using the announced LaTeX template. The abstract should contain at least 100 words. If the author prefers to publish in Turkish, then an English abstract is required. A minimum of 3 keywords should be provided with the manuscript. Keywords must be selected from the list which is common to the major astronomical and astrophysical journals.
All responsibility for the articles belongs to the respective authors. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with internationally accepted scientific ethics rules. Each submission will be subjected to a similarity check via well-known online tools. Submissions that have more than 15% similarity report will not be taken to the reviewing process.
There is no evaluation and application fee for the articles published in TJAA.
Manuscripts will be evaluated within 21 days after the submission. Editorial board may extend this period for an extra 7 days or withdraw reviewer's appointment, and assigns a new one.
Copyright Form signed by corresponding author has to be uploaded to the DergiPark System along with the manuscript.
Reviewer will mark the manuscript with one of four decisions: accept, accept with minor corrections, accept with major corrections, reject. Manuscripts that needs revision have to be resubmitted by applying reviewer's recommendations. Manuscripts with minor (major) corrections have to be resubmitted within 3 (6) weeks after reviewer's decision, respectively. Manuscripts that do not reach the desired level will be considered scientifically insufficient and they will be rejected.
When the manuscript is accepted for publication corresponding author should return page editing within 30 days and afterwards proofreading should be finished subsequent 10 days. If manuscripts are not returned within these periods they will be automatically rejected.
Authors have the right to make their submissions (the preprint versions) available through preprint services such as arXiv.org.
The authors who submit their manuscripts to Turkish Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:
The fact that all manuscripts are reviewed through Blind Review has a direct influence on the publication quality. This process ensures confidentiality by objective and independent review. The review process at Turkish Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics is carried out on the principle of double blind review.
