Author Guidelines

For Authors;
It is strongly recommended that submitted articles exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Research studies containing original scientific findings,
  • Studies that convey application examples with a scientific approach,
  • Review studies that comprehensively evaluate significant developments on a particular subject.

Uploading the Article to the System;

The following article types is accepted:

- Original Articles are research papers that meet the Aims and Scope of the journal, with typical length of text between 5,000-10,000 words. Research papers may include specific case studies if these studies demonstrate theoretical significance and broad systemic relevance.

- Review Articles provide a comprehensive and novel assessment of a method/methods and its/their application in geoinformation research and should be of interest to a wide readership. A Review Article should provide a balanced, integrated, and critical summary of previous work, possibly supported by new findings, and should evaluate potential controversial issues. Typical length of text should not exceed 20,000 words, excluding references. Potential authors are encouraged to consult informally with the Editor-in-Chief before preparing a Review Article.

- Short Communications are essentially intended to be compact versions of full-length articles, and must still report new and original research of high quality that meet the criteria of being of broad international interest, significant and novel. Short Communications should be less than 5,000 words in length.

- Technical Notes are dedicated to the rapid dissemination of concise, practical, and technically focused contributions. It emphasizes innovations that advance methods, tools, workflows, and implementations relevant to the journal’s field. Technical Notes typically include Novel algorithms, models, or analytical techniques; Methodological improvements or optimizations; Instrumentation, software, or data-processing workflows; Case-specific technical solutions or validations; Implementation details, benchmarks, or performance evaluations. Technical Notes are intended to share actionable technical advances with the research and professional community in a timely manner. This section supports researchers and practitioners by accelerating the exchange of useful technical knowledge and emerging best practices. For Technical Notes typical length of text is between 1,500-3,500 words.

- Comment and Reply: Researchers may also submit a Comment about a recently published article in Turkish Journal of Applied Geoinformation Sciences (TJAGS). Comment must be brief and directed only towards the main issue(s) that are being questioned in the original article. The authors of the original article will be invited to write a Reply which must likewise be brief and directed only at the issues in question. Both parties are limited to one Comment and Reply each. These comments and replies must be submitted within six months of publication of the original article; the author of the Reply must submit it within one month of being notified of the Comment. Both Comment and Reply should typically be no more than 3,000 words.

Publication Fee
Turkish Journal of Applied Geoinformation Sciences (TJAGS) does not charge any fees at any stage of the assessment or publication processes for submitted manuscripts.
