Doğu Himalaya-Naga Kesidi ve Hindistan Petrol Sahaları

Abstract

14-22 Aralık 1964 tarihleri arasında Hindistan'da yapılan XXII nci Uluslararası Jeoloji Kongresi münasebetiyle Hindistan'ın bazı bölgeleri ile en önemli petrol sahalarından Assam eyaletini ziyaret etmek imkânı bulunmuştur (Şek. 1). Bu petrol sahası gezisi, 23 Aralık 1964 - 2 Ocak 1965 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır.

Bu petrol sahası Ganj nehri ile Kalküta eyaleti kuzeyine düşmektedir. Bölge jeolojisi, kuzeyden-güneye ve batıdan-doğuya yapılan kesitlerle tetkik imkânı hâsıl olmuştur. Bu arada petrol şirketlerinden alınan bilgiler de bu makalede bahis konusu olmuştur.

Hindistan takriben 4-4.5 milyon kilometre karelik bir arazi kapsamakta ve Türkiye'nin takriben 55 misli büyüklük arzetmektedir. Nüfusu 1951 sayımına göre 450 milyon, halen ise takriben 600 milyon civarındadır. Bu nüfus daha fazla büyük şehirlerde toplanmıştır. Kilometre kareye takriben 130-150 kişi düşmektedir.

Abstract

A l'occasion du XXIIe Congrès Géologique International, tenu à New Delhi, nous avons visité l’Inde et le bassin pétrolier de l’Assam.

La géologie de l'Inde doit être conçue dans la région de l'Himalaya, celle indo-gangétique et le triangle de l'Inde (Deccan-Trap y compris).

L'Himalaya présente, un système alpin plissé, fracturé, faille et charrié. La structure est constituée essentiellement de roches métamorphiques et intrusives. Au Sud elle est charriée sur le Tertiaire.

La région indo-gangétique se présente sous forme d'une vaste plaine située au Sud de l'Himalaya. Cette plaine est couverte d'un matériel alluvionnaire et remanié à l'Est et de loess à l'Ouest. L’épaisseur de l’alluvion atteint 1000 m.

Quant au triangle de l’Inde (Deccan-Trap y compris), il s’agit ici d’un ancien plateau couvert de formations archéennes et précambriennes sur lesquelles reposent le système de Gondwana et les laves basaltiques du Crétacé-Eocène (Deccan-Trap). A Cachemire on est en présence du Cambrien, de l'Ordovicien discordant, du Silurien, du Dévonien et du système de Gondwana (Carbonifère sup.-Crétacé inf.). Ce système est d'une puissance allant jusqu'à 9000 m. A la suite des forages pétroliers, effectués dans les plaines alluvionnaires et dans les plateaux, on vient de constater du Triasique, du Jurassique et du Crétacé.

Une attention particulière a été attribuée au Tertiaire, étant donné qu'il contient du pétrole productif. Les séries de Berail, se trouvant dans les formations oligocènes, présentent une puissance atteignant 6000 m. Le pétrole est contenu pour la plupart dans les horizons sablonneux. Toutes les séries tertiaires présentent une épaisseur d'un ordre de grandeur de 14 000 m. Les travaux sur le pétrole, en Inde, commencent à partir de 1825.

Les bassins pétroliers occupent de grandes étendues au NE, de l’Inde à Is-Assam, à l'Ouest, au Nord et au Sud, ainsi que dans le littoral de Madras. L'Inde comprend I 000 000 km² de terrains sédimentaires dont 650 000 km² ont fait l'objet de recherches pétrolières.
