Landsat (Erts) görüntüleri yardımıyla batı Karadeniz kıyı akıntılarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Landsat peykleri tarafından çekilen uzaktan algı görüntüleri yardımı ile, denize dökülen akarsuların taşıdıkları sediment gerecin oluşturduğu püsküllerin şeklinden faydalanılarak, kıyı yakınlarındaki deniz akıntılarının yön ve hızlarının ölçülmesi olanaklıdır. Batı Karadeniz kıyılarını kapsayan bazı görüntülerdeki, Sakarya, Melen, Filyos ve Bartınsuyu püskülleri incelenerek, bu kıyılardaki deniz akıntılarının yön ve hızları saptanmış ve daha önce deniz yüzeyinden yapılan ölçümlerle uyumlu olduğu görülmüştür. Landsat uzaktan algı görüntülerinden, ayrıca daha önce kayıtlanmamış olan yeni bulgular da elde edilmiş, 20-30 m derinlikte bir "ters" akıntının varlığı saptanmıştır. Bu yöntem, denizüstü yöntemlerinden daha sağlıklı, daha kolay ve az masraflı görünmektedir. Peykten çekilen görüntülerin sinoptik alanları çok geniş olmakla beraber, uygun zamanlarda yapılacak uçaktan çekimlerden, hattâ balondan çekimlerden de yararlı sonuçlar alınabileceği sanılmaktadır.

Coastal currents of Western Black Sea using Landsat (Erts) imagery

Abstract

By analysing the shapes of stream plumes on LANDSAT (ERTS) imagery, it is possible to derive the directions and velocities of coastal currents. On some imagery covering the plumes of Sakarya, Melen, Filyos, and Bartınsuyu, it has been possible to establish the directions and velocities of coastal currents and compare the derived values with those obtained earlier by ground work. Apart from good correlation with earlier data, this study yielded new information which had not been recorded on ground: An "opposite" current at an approximate depth of 20-30 metres. This method appears to be more accurate, easier, as well as cheaper per sq. km. of ground, than the conventional ground methods. Though the ' synoptic views of satellite imagery are greater, it is thought possible to employ aeroplane, or balloon, imagery usefully.
