Abstract

Etüdü yapılan arazi, Marmara mıntakasının Kocaeli Bölgesinde ve Tuzla ile Gebze istasyonları arasında, Çayırova mevkiindedir. Kısmen Teknik Bahçıvancılık Enstitüsüne ve kısmen de Devlete ait araziyi içine alan etüd sahamız takriben 5 km² dır.

Bu arazi, kuzeyde İstanbul-İzmit karayolu ve İsmail ağılı, güneyde Marmara denizi ve Etibank'ın trafo istasyonu, doğuda Kanço tepe ve devamı hattı, batıda kısmen Marmara denizi ve Federal Truck Şirketi arazisi ile çevrelenmiştir. Bu bölge karayolundan İstanbul'a 37 km mesafededir.

Haydarpaşa-İzmit demiryolu ve karayolu, birbirlerine yakın olarak sahamızı batıdan doğuya kat'ederek iyi bir nakil imkânı sağlarlar. Bu bakımdan Fabrika arazisine karadan kolaylıkla gidildiği gibi ayrıca motor ve kayıkla denizden de ulaşılabilir.

General Geological Study of the Window-Glass Works Site at Çayırova

Abstract

The area in question is situated within the limits of the Province of Kocaeli (İzmit), between the railway stations of Tuzla and Gebze (the Works site actually lying along the shores of the Gulf of İzmit, at the eastern extremity of the Marmara Basin). This site comprises some of the grounds originally owned by the Florists Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as some state property to the east of the said Institute, and amounts to some 5 km².

The site is delimited to the north: by the İstanbul-İzmit Highway and by Ismail's stable; to the east: by the Kanço Tepe Hill and the ridge forming its prolongation; to the south: by the Marmara Sea and the Etibank Transformer Station; to the west: partly by the Marmara Sea and partly by the Federal Trucks Company grounds.

The Haydarpaşa-İzmit railway running almost parallel with the İstanbul-İzmit newly constructed highway pass through the site grounds and thus constitute excellent means of transportation for the works to be. The site can thus be easily reached both by land through the afore-said ways as well as by motor-boat by sea.
