Abstract
In this study, Geographic Information System (GIS) which is one of the important implement, helping us in solving the problems that we meet at each stage of the life or as a part of the social life has been explained. In the same time, information related to the general structure and processing of GIS has been extended. In addition, using fields and facilities connected with the system has been expressed. In this context, the system should be used by each organization or individual for producing rational and exact solutions.

Abstract
Bu çalışmada, toplumsal hayatın bir parçası haline gelen ve yaşamın her aşamasında karşılaştığımız sorunlara çözümler üretmemizde yardımcı bir araç olan, coğrafi bilgi sistemi (CBS) tanıtılmıştır. Coğrafi bilgi sisteminin genel yapısı ve işleyişi hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Sistemin kullanım alanları ve ülkemizde kullanım olanaklarına değinilmiştir. Bu bağlamda, her kuruluşun hatta her bireyin bu sistemden yararlanması gerektiği, böylelikle sorunlara daha doğru ve akılcı çözümler üretebileceği açıklanmıştır.
