Identification of indicatory plant species for target species by using quantitative methods: A case study from Acıpayam district

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine indicator plant species of Anatolian black pine (Pinus nigra subsp. pallasiana (Lamb.) Holmboe) which is a main forest tree species having distribution in Acipayam district (Denizli). Totally, 100 sample plots were located in the area. Vegetation data matrix was arranged by using binary data (presence and absence data) of the species. Next the data matrix was examined by using inter-specific correlation analysis (ICA). Finally, 6 positive indicator species and 9 negative indicator species of black pine were determined. Among those species, Taurus cedar and Brutian pine were respectively found as the most significant positive and negative indicator species of the Anatolian black pine in the district.
