Abstract
Juniper species are main forest trees and their distributions constitute large areas in Turkey. Because of over use and over grazing for long years, juniper forests are composed with low structured stans and bad stem form trees. These areas need to be regenerated. To keep the present areas for a long years is not possible. After 80 year of age the hearth wood decays begin on Crimean juniper which is the dominant species in juniper forests of Turkey. The silvicultural properties of this species have not been cleared. Therefore, regeneration and utilization works are not continued. If silvicultural problems are solved, juniper forests have a great economical potential. On the other hand, this forests may grow at a poor sites. At the same time from the forest villager point of view, they need juniper forests for wood and forage.

Abstract
Ardıç, ülkemizde geniş yayılış alanı bulunan asal orman ağacı türlerimizdendir. Uzun yıllar, aşırı kesim ve otlatma baskısı nedeniyle, ardıç alanları, gövde formları fena bireylerden oluşan, kuruluşları bozuk meşcereler durumuna gelmişlerdir. Bu sahaların gençleştirilmesi gerekmektedir. Daha uzun yıllar için, ardıç meşcerelerinin bekletilmesi mümkün değildir. 80 yaşından sonra, ardıç ormanlarımızın çoğunlukta olan türü boylu ardıçta öz çürüklüğü başlamaktadır. Silvikültürü henüz açıklığa kavuşturulamamış olduğundan, ardıç ormanlarında gençleştirme ve ürün alma çalışmaları sürdürülememektedir. Yetiştirme sorunları çözümlendiğinde, ardıç ormanlarının büyük bir ekonomik potansiyeli vardır. Diğer yandan, bu ormanlar fakir yetişme yerlerinde gelişebilmektedir. Aynı zamanda, orman köylüsünün, odun ve hayvan yemi olarak ardıç ormanlarına gereksinimi vardır.
