Abstract
Garden art in the strong structure of art history, begins with peoples settling on the ground and their demand for designing a living place out of economic activities. Information and mentality about garden art, helps to create people's own garden and also to enjoy the other gardens.
For sinking in today's gardens more clearly, examining and studying the old gardens has became very important. For this purpose in this paper, the famous artist Gertrude Jekyll, who had an important role in the garden art of 19th and 20th centuries' has been scrutinized. Gertrude Jekyll's art life and especially the point of view to the garden art within the examples of her famous gardens, has been examined.

Abstract
Bahçe sanatı diğer sanat dallarından farklı olarak, ilk insanların toprak üzerine yerleşmeleri ve ekonomik faaliyetlerinin dışında da bir yaşama ortamı düzenleme ihtiyacı duymaları ile başlamıştır. Bu sanat dalı ile ilgili bilgi ve anlayış, insanın kendi bahçesini yaratabilmesini ve hatta başka bahçelerden de zevk almasını sağlamaktadır. Günümüz bahçelerinin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi için bu bahçelere temel oluşturan eski bahçelerin incelenip araştırılması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu amaçla, 19. ve 20. yüzyılda bahçe sanatında önemli rol oynamış ünlü sanatkar Gertrude Jekyll'ın sanat hayatı ve özellikle bahçe sanatına bakış açısı, düzenlemiş olduğu önemli bahçelerden örnekler verilerek incelenmiştir.
