Since 2025, The Turkish Journal of Health Research has published all academic articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
The journal is open access, and all content is provided free of charge to readers and their affiliated institutions. Readers may, for non-commercial purposes, read, download, copy, search, and link to the full texts of journal articles without obtaining permission from the publisher or the author.
“Open Access” is an umbrella term that includes both Gratis and Libre Open Access. Over 20 years ago, open access referred solely to content made available free of charge, now termed Free Open Access. As the concept of open access became more widely accepted, it became necessary to clearly specify what rights users have regarding the content. This clarity, which delineates user rights explicitly, distinguishes Libre Open Access. Libre Open Access revokes price barriers and at least some restrictions on reuse. Various levels of reuse permissions—for commercial use, derivative works, translations, etc.—are available, as defined under the six different Creative Commons licenses (see: https://blog.doaj.org/2020/11/17/what-does-doaj-define-as-open-access/).
The publisher believes that for open access to function effectively, user rights and copyright ownership must be transparently defined through licensing.
By submitting their work under the CC BY-NC license, authors agree to the following conditions:
1. The copyright of the published article remains with the author.
2. Authors grant the journal the right to publish the article and to identify itself as the original publisher.
3. Authors permit any third party to freely use the article—as long as the original authors and citation details are clearly identified.
4. Nothing in this license shall undermine or restrict an author’s right to preserve the integrity and ownership of their work.
5. All commercial rights related to the article remain with the authors.
The journal’s open access articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This license permits sharing, copying, redistribution in any medium or format, and adaptation, transformation, and building upon the material, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author and source and that the use is non-commercial.
