CARDIAC ARREST DUE TO LITHIUM INTOXICATION ACCOMPANIED BY HYPONATREMIA: A CASE REPORT

Year 2025, Volume: 4 Issue: S2, 15 - 16, 29.12.2025

Abstract

Lithium is a mood stabilizer frequently used in bipolar disorder. Because of its narrow therapeutic range, even small fluctuations in serum levels may cause toxicity. As lithium is mainly excreted by the kidneys, disturbances in sodium or fluid balance significantly increase the risk of intoxication (1). This report presents a case of cardiac arrest secondary to lithium toxicity associated with hyponatremia.

HİPONATREMİNİN EŞLİK ETTİĞİ LİTYUM İNTOKSİKASYONUNA BAĞLI KARDİYAK ARREST: OLGU SUNUMU

Year 2025, Volume: 4 Issue: S2, 15 - 16, 29.12.2025

Abstract

Lityum, bipolar bozukluk tedavisinde sık kullanılan bir duygu durum düzenleyicisidir. Dar terapötik aralığı nedeniyle serum düzeyindeki küçük değişiklikler toksisiteye yol açabilir. Lityum atılımı büyük oranda böbreklerden gerçekleştiğinden, sodyum dengesindeki bozukluklar toksisite riskini artırır (1). Bu olgu, hiponatremi zemininde gelişen lityum intoksikasyonuna bağlı kardiyak arrest nedeniyle sunulmuştur.
