İsmail E. Erünsal is known for his publications on library science alongside the book culture and trading. In 2021, he published “Book Trading in the Ottoman Empire: Second-hand & New Booksellers.” He wrote this work, mentioning about the roughly four century-old second-hand book trade in the Ottoman Empire, by using archival documents and especially based on observations made by European travelers. Even though the book contains trading of second-hand and new books in the Ottoman Empire, its introduction contains detailed information about book makers and vendors in the Medieval Islamic world. This work, written by him with an effort that requires great effort and reviewing literallyhundreds of books and archives, is a monographic work about second-hand booksellers, who made their living off trading books. I believe that it is a masterpiece about the book trade and second-hand booksellers and it should be accepted as such.
