Abstract

The reaction of people, even societies, to books
and libraries and the desire to destroy is often ignored in the history of the
book. However, this attitude is as old as the book's history. This attitude,
which is fundamentally different from the self and/or arising from the
inability to tolerate the thought, is inspired by belief, ideology, and the
desire not to want to share the most powerful power. Bàez, who advises on
regional and urban studies in order to raise awareness of all segments of society
against cultural destruction in different countries and geographies of the
world and is known as one of the authority names in the field of librarianship,
discusses the history of the book in his “Universal History of Book Slaughter” the book which was revealed as a result of a 12-year study, via the object approach
which is intended to be destroyed. Enriched with interesting and striking
information, the text takes every reader crossing the road to an extraordinary
journey.

Kitap Kıyımının Evrensel Tarihi

Abstract

Dünyanın
farklı ülkelerinde ve coğrafyalarında kültür kıyımına karşı toplumun her
kesimini bilinçlendirmek amacıyla bölgesel ve kentsel çapta yürütülen çalışmalara
danışmanlık yapan ve kütüphanecilik alanının otorite isimlerinden biri olarak
tanınan Bàez’ın 12 yıllık bir çalışma sonucu ortaya koyduğu Kitap Kıyımının Evrensel Tarihi, kitabın
tarihinde önemli ancak aynı oranda üzerinde durulmayan bir sorun olan kitap
düşmanlığını, kitapların ve kütüphanelerin başına gelen felaketleri ve söz
konusu yaşanmışlıkların nedenini konu ediniyor. Venezuelalı yazarın, bir
bölümüne tarihsel ortaklık yaptığı kitap düşmanlığı ve kitap telefi ile ilgili
farkındalığı ve bunu dert edinmesi, çocuk yaşlarında başlamış. Hayatının her
döneminde öğrendiklerine, deneyimlerine ve gözlemlerine bu bilinç doğrultusunda
yaklaşan Bàez için bu tutum doğal bir seçilim olmuş. Türkçe tercümesi Kasım
2018’de raflardaki yerini alan kitap, orijinal dilindeki ile baskısını 2013
yılında yapmış...
