Research Note
The aim of this journal that began its publishing life in 2000 under the roof of the Foundation of History and Islamic Studies (TISAV) continued to be published within Kültür Ocağı Vakfı (KOCAV) as of its 8th issue is to research and analyze the values of Turkish literature and history and to offer solution proposals to their problems.
One of the main objectives of our journal is to bring together scientific developments in Turkish language, literature and history with its relevant reader, to discuss the problems of the field with scientific language, to ensure that oral and written sources of our culture are recorded, and to contribute to Turkish history, literature and culture by keeping the literature in history and literature up to date.
As such, in the areas mentioned above; publishing and promoting scientific studies contributing to the original and relevant field in terms of subject, resources and methodology are among the main objectives of our journal.

Authors should ensure that articles submitted to the Journal of Turkish Cultural Studies are formatted as specified below:
Ethical Principles and Declarations
• If an article is derived from a thesis or a project, or if it was presented as a conference paper, this must be clearly stated on the first page of the article.
• For works with multiple authors, a declaration of contribution and a conflict of interest statement must be submitted by the authors at the time of submission. In works derived from graduate theses, the author with the highest contribution must be a student.
• At the time of submission, if the work has received support from any institution, organization, or funding source, this support must be clearly stated. Additionally, if there are individuals, institutions, or organizations to be acknowledged, the relevant information must be clearly included in the manuscript.
• If AI-based tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc.) were used during the article production process, the specific stages in which they were utilized must be clearly stated. This information must be provided during the article submission process. All responsibility regarding the use of AI rests with the authors.
• The legal responsibility for articles published in the journal lies with the authors.

Ethics Committee Approval
Our journal requires that all studies in scientific fields that require ethics committee approval have obtained the relevant ethics committee decision. In this context, authors must include the date and number of the Ethics Committee approval in the “Sample and Method/Materials and Methods” section.
In line with the regulations implemented by Ulakbim TR Index since 2020, studies without ethical committee approval are not considered for publication in our journal.
Studies Requiring Ethical Committee Approval
Studies requiring ethical committee approval in our journal include the following:
• All research conducted using qualitative or quantitative approaches that involve collecting data from participants through methods such as surveys, interviews, focus group studies, observations and interviews,
• Retrospective studies within the framework of the Personal Data Protection Law.
For such studies to be considered for evaluation, the relevant ethical committee approvals must have been obtained and these approvals must be clearly stated in the article text.

Title: It should be compatible with the content and expresses the content best, and should be written in capital letters and italics. The title of the article should not exceed 10-12 words.
Author's name(s) and address(es): The name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s) should be in italics in capital letters, and the personal record information should be indicated in the footnote with an asterisk (*). The institution(s) where the author(s) served, the communication addresses should be written in normal letters; e-mail address(es) should be written in italics and the author's ORCID number should be specified in parentheses after the e-mail address.
Abstract: In each article to be published, Turkish and English abstracts are given as well as Turkish and English keywords. An English title should also be placed at the beginning of the English summary. For articles to be published in other languages, abstracts and keywords can be added in those languages. Abstracts should be between 200 and 250 words and keywords should be maximum 10 words.
In the abstract, the sources used, figures and table numbers should not be mentioned. Keywords with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 words should be provided by leaving a blank line under the abstract. Keywords should be compatible with the content of the article and should be inclusive. At the end of the article; English writing title, abstract and keywords should be available.
Main Text: The “DEV-RA” font (including footnotes) should be used throughout the articles (except for the sections with transcribed text). 12 font size should be used in normal text and 9 font size in footnote. Line spacing is 1.5 in the main text; Should be 1 in footnote. Writings should not exceed 7,000 (seven thousand) words including abstract and bibliography. Double emphasis such as quotation marks and italics letters in the text should not be included.
Chapter Titles: Main title and subtitles can be used in the article to provide a regular information transfer. The main headings (main sections, references and appendices) are in capital letters; subtitles should be in bold characters and first letters should be capitalized
Tables and Figures: Tables should have numbers and titles. The table number should be written in normal letters to top left; The name of the table should be written in italics, with the first letter of each word capitalized. Tables should be where they should be in the text. Figures should be prepared in accordance with black and white printing. Figure numbers and names should be written centered just below the figure. The figure number should be written italics and should end with a dot. Right next to it, the first letter should be capitalized and the name of the figure should be written In normal letters.
Pictures: They should be sent in addition to the article in high resolution, scanned in print quality. In picture naming, the rules in the figures and charts should be followed.
Figures, charts and pictures should not exceed 10 pages (one third of the text). Authors with technical possibilities may place figures, charts and pictures in their places in the text, provided that they can be printed exactly.
Manuscripts / Documents: If there is a reading of texts such as manuscript, archive document, the photocopy of the original text should also be included in the file for the health of the review. The same is true for translations, the original text of the translation must be sent. For translation studies are sent to referee approval just like copyright works.
Citations and References: All kinds of responsibilities of the articles belong to their authors. Direct quotations should be given in quotation marks. Citations less than 2.5 lines must be written between lines; citations longer than 2.5 lines should be written in 1-point smaller with 1.5 line spacing 1.5 cm inside and right and left of the line.
Spelling: It is recommended to follow the spelling guide of the Turkish Language Association in the articles. However, in the end, the authors are responsible for the spelling in the articles.
Address: Articles should be sent to our journal at www.tkidergisi.com with an author entry. The author should state his/her academic title and the name of the institution he/she works for, together with his/her name and surname.
Procedure to Follow in References (In Bibliography)
All reference sources shown in the article should be written in alphabetical order in the bibliography at the end of the article. References that are not included in the text although used are not shown in the bibliography.

References in Footnotes
The classic footnote system is applied in the journal. Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page with a number at the end of the related word or phrase. In the footnotes, the full reference must be given in the place where the work cited first passes, in later locations as “a.g.e.”; If it’s the cited from an article or encyclopedia article it must abbreviated as “a.g.m.” The name and surname of the author should be written clearly, without shortening.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
The ethical principles and publication policy of our journal have been prepared in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
Actions Contrary to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics
• Plagiarism: Presenting the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as one's own, in whole or in part, without proper scientific attribution.
• Fabrication: Using data that does not actually exist or has been falsified in scientific research.
• Distortion: Altering research records or obtained data, presenting equipment or materials not used in the research as if they had been used, altering or shaping research results in line with the interests of the individuals and organisations providing support,
• Duplicate publication: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications for academic appointment and promotion,
• Salami slicing: Dividing the results of a research study into parts in an inappropriate manner that compromises the integrity of the research and publishing them as multiple publications, presenting these publications as separate publications for academic appointments and promotions,
• Unfair authorship: Including individuals who have not made an active contribution among the authors or excluding those who have, changing the author order in an unjustified and inappropriate manner, removing the names of those who have made an active contribution from subsequent editions, or including one's name among the authors by using one's influence despite not having made an active contribution,
Other types of ethical violations include:
a) Failing to acknowledge the individuals, institutions, or organisations that provided support for research conducted with such support, or failing to acknowledge their contributions in publications resulting from such research,
b) Using theses or studies that have not yet been submitted or defended and accepted as a source without the permission of the owner,
c) Sharing information contained in a work assigned for review with others prior to publication without the express permission of the author,
ç) Using resources, premises, facilities, and equipment provided or allocated for scientific research for purposes other than those intended,
d) Making unfounded, inappropriate, and deliberate allegations of ethical violations,
e) Publishing data obtained without the explicit consent of participants in surveys and attitude studies conducted as part of scientific work, or without the additional permission of the institution if the research is to be conducted at an institution,
f) Failure to comply with the obligation to inform and warn those concerned about possible harmful practices related to scientific research conducted by researchers and officials,
g) In scientific studies, failing to use data and information obtained from other persons and institutions to the extent and in the manner authorised, failing to respect the confidentiality of this information and failing to ensure its protection,
h) Making false or misleading statements regarding scientific research and publications in academic appointments and promotions,
Principles of Research Ethics
• The principles of scientific integrity, impartiality, transparency, and reliability must be adhered to at all stages of research.
• Participants must be informed about the purpose, methodology, and potential outcomes of the research; informed consent must be obtained when necessary.
• Personal data and confidential information belonging to participants must be protected in accordance with the principle of confidentiality and processed in compliance with relevant legislation.
• Participation in research must be voluntary; participants must be able to withdraw from the study at any time.
• Necessary precautions must be taken to ensure that participants do not suffer physical, psychological, or social harm during the research process.
• Researchers must clearly disclose any potential conflicts of interest, financial support, and sponsorships.
• Ethical violations such as plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, data manipulation, and unfair authorship must be avoided; all sources must be properly cited.
• Research results must be reported accurately, completely, and in a manner that does not mislead the public.
• In studies utilizing artificial intelligence and similar technologies, the role of these tools in the research must be clearly stated, and ethical usage principles must be followed.

Responsibilities of Authors
• Authors must ensure that the manuscripts submitted to the journal are original, scientific, and in compliance with ethical guidelines.
• They must cite all sources used in the study completely and accurately.
• They must avoid ethical violations such as plagiarism, fabrication of data, data manipulation, salami slicing, and unjustified authorship.
• They must list as authors only those who have made a scientific contribution to the work and must not include individuals who have not contributed in the author list.
• They must obtain parental or legal guardian consent for research involving children.
• They must clearly disclose any potential conflicts of interest and financial support.
• They must respond to requests from reviewers and editors in a timely manner and with scientific justification.
• Significant errors or inaccuracies identified during the publication process must be reported to the journal editorial office.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviews must be conducted impartially, objectively, and in accordance with scientific criteria.
The confidentiality of information obtained during the review process must be maintained.
Manuscripts must be evaluated free from personal, institutional, or ideological biases.
Reviewers must not accept manuscripts for review if there is a conflict of interest.
They must report any identified ethical violations, suspected plagiarism, or scientific errors to the editor.
They must submit review reports in a constructive, explanatory, and timely manner.
They must not use the content of the article for their own work or share it with third parties.
Responsibilities of Editors
They must evaluate manuscripts based on their scientific merit, originality, and suitability for the journal’s scope.
They must make decisions independently of the authors’ gender, ethnic background, religion, political views, or institutional affiliations.
They must ensure that the peer review process is conducted impartially and confidentially.
They must investigate allegations of ethical violations in accordance with publication ethics principles and take necessary actions.
They must manage conflicts of interest and ensure the transparency of the publication process.
They must prioritize subject-matter expertise in the selection of reviewers.
They must ensure that works to be published comply with scientific and ethical standards.
They must protect the integrity of the scientific record by publishing corrections, retractions, or clarifications when necessary.
Privacy Statement
All personal data submitted to our journal is protected. Data belonging to authors, reviewers, and other individuals is not shared with third parties or institutions.
Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern
Editors may consider publishing a correction if minor errors are found in a published article that do not affect the findings, interpretations, or conclusions. Editors should consider retracting the article if major errors/violations invalidate the findings and conclusions. COPE principles are taken into account regarding corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
Our journal is responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of all published articles and defending the rights of the journal and author(s) in case of possible infringements.
Conflicts of Interest
Our journal ensures that the publication process is completed independently and impartially, taking into account conflicts of interest between author(s), reviewers, and other editors.
