A Rare Cause of Low Back Pain: Hemivertebra

Year 2008, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 259 - 263, 23.03.2008

Abstract

Hemivertebra is a rare congenital spinal anomaly where only one side of the vertebral body develops, resulting in the deformation of the spine, such as scoliosis, lordosis, or kyphosis. A 35-year-old man who did not recall any specific trauma presented with low back pain. Physical examination, muscle power, deep tendon reflexes, and sensation were all normal. Roentgenograms revealed a posterior hemivertebra at the level of the second lumbar segment. This finding was confirmed by magnetic resonance images. This is a very rare cause of low back pain in patients with intact and functioning lumbar and sacral nerves.

Bel Ağrısının Nadir Bir Nedeni: Hemivertebra

Year 2008, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 259 - 263, 23.03.2008
