Anthrax is the disease of animals such as sheep and goats, which are formed by bacillus anthracis. However, direct contact or contact with animal products may cause human disease. The aim of this study was to determine the awareness rates of anthrax in people living in Eskişehir. A questionnaire consisting of 8 questions and face-to-face interviews with random persons was conducted in front of a shopping center. The study included individuals over 18 who agreed to participate in the survey. 200 people were included in the study. Of these, 113 (56.5%) knew anthrax, while 87 (43.5%) did not. 108 of the people who knew what anthrax was said to have learned it through the news and only 27 of them knew about the measures taken in our country. Of these 113 people, 93 (82.5%) were aware of how anthrax was infected. It was seen that anthrax awareness was not sufficient in Eskişehir and it was known by very few people what measures to take. The most effective way of protection from anthrax is awareness, vaccination of animals and effective implementation of protection methods. In this regard, the Ministry of Health, Veterinary chambers, as well as press organizations should work effectively.
