ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ YAPAY ZEKÂYA YÖNELİK TUTUMLARININ ÇEŞİTLİ DEĞİŞKENLER AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ

Year 2025, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 168 - 191, 20.07.2025

Abstract

AN INVESTIGATION OF PRESERVICE TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES TOWARD ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN TERMS OF VARIOUS VARIABLES

Year 2025, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 168 - 191, 20.07.2025

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the current state by examining prospective teachers’ general attitudes toward artificial intelligence (AI) in terms of various variables. Within the scope of the study, it is investigated whether the attitudes of prospective teachers studying at different grade levels in four undergraduate programs at Selçuk University Faculty of Education differ according to gender, age, grade level, and department variables. The research is based on the descriptive survey model, one of the quantitative research approaches. The sample of the study, determined through convenience sampling, consists of 246 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education at Selçuk University. The "General Attitude Toward Artificial Intelligence Scale," developed by Schepman and Rodway (2020) and adapted to Turkish culture by Kaya et al. (2022), was used in the study. During the data analysis process, descriptive statistics such as percentage (%) and frequency (f) were calculated to describe the independent variables. Additionally, to determine whether attitudes toward AI differed by gender, age, grade level, and department, Independent Samples t-Test and Mann Whitney U-Test were employed for comparisons between two groups, while One-Way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis H Test were used for comparisons involving more than two groups. According to the findings, prospective teachers generally exhibited a moderate level of attitude toward both the "positive attitude" and "negative attitude" sub-dimensions of AI, with scores showing a heterogeneous distribution. Moreover, attitude scores for both sub-dimensions did not show any statistically significant differences based on gender, age group, grade level, or department.
