Abstract

Postpolio syndrome refers to new symptoms that may occur years after recovery from acute paralitic poliomyelitis. Diagnosis of PPS is based on clinical grounds. Conventional electrophysiological evaluation do not distinguish between residual paralitic poliomyelitis and PPS. We reported a case of PPS with myokymia and abnormal F response that is related with actual motor neuron degeneration. Abstract

Postpolio sendromu (PPS), akut paralitik poliomyelit atağından seneler sonra ortaya çıkan yeni semptomlarla karakterizedir. PPS tanısı daha çok klinik semptomlara göre konulmaktadır. Klasik elektrofızyolojik inceleme yöntemleri ile bulguların PPS' ye mi, seneler önceki akut atağa mı bağlı olduğu ayırt edilememektedir. Sunulan olguda, klasik klinik ve elektrofızyolojik bulgular yanış ıra PPS'deki aktüel motor nöron dejenerasyonunu yansıtan myokimi ve F cevabı anormalliği saptanmıştır.
