Abstract
HIV-I and HIV-2 are the causative agents of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Infection through sexual contact, blood and body fluids, and from mother to child remain the only three modes of transmission. Most sexual transmission of HIV infection is occurred through sexual contact between males, with 50-63% of AIDS cases occuring in homosexual/bisexual males not reporting intravenous drog use. The latency period between HIV infection and the de>elopment of AIDS may vary according to viral inoculum, route of entry, and age of the patient. The pathophysiology of illness is incompletely understood, but is in large part related to destruction of helper. CD4 lymphocytes. This results in immune dysfunction and the development of a variety of opportunistic infections and malignancies. Infection with the virus can be determined by a number of serologic techniques as well as viral culture. Akkiz: immün yetmezlik sendromu (AIDS)'nun etkenleri, ‘human immunodefıciency virüs' tip I ve 2 (HIV-l ve HIV-2)'dir. İnfeksiyon seksüel ilişki, kan ve vücut sıvıları ve anneden çocuğa olmak üzere başlıca üç şekilde geçer. İntravenöz ilaç kullanımı bildirilmeyen homoseksüel/biseksüel erkeklerdeki %30-63'lük AIDS vakası He seksüel yolla geçen HIV infeksiyonunun çoğu, erkekler arası seksüel kontakt yolu ile meydana gelir. Vücuda giren virüs miktarı, giriş yolu ve hastanın yaşma bağlı olarak HIV infeksiyonu ve AIDS'in ortaya çıkışı arasındaki latent süre değişmektedir. Hastalığın patofızyolojisi tamamen anlaşılamamıştır. Ancak helper CD4 lenfositleri azalmaktadır. Bu nedenle immün disfonksiyon meydana gelmekte, çeşitli opurtunistik infeksiyonlar ve neoplaziler görülmektedir. İnfeksiyona sebep olan virüs, kültür ve çeşitli serolojik testler ile tespit edilebilir. İnsan immün yetmezlik virüsü (HIV) ile meydana gelen infeksiyonun tedavisi ve birlikte görülen opurtunistik infeksiyonlara karşı profilaksi çalışmaları, bugün için, devam etmektedir.
