Turizm; emek-yoğun özelliği ve çalışma olanaklarının uygunluğu nedeni ile kadın işgücünün yüksek olduğu bir sektördür. Turizm sektöründe kadınlar, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan güçlenerek, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğini sağlamada fırsat alanları elde edebilmektedirler. Çalışma; konaklama işletmelerinde istihdam edilen kadınların cinsiyet ayrımcılığına maruz kalıp kalmadıklarını ve cinsiyet ayrımcılığı algılarının demografik özelliklere göre farklılık düzeylerini ölçmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma, nicel veri toplama ve değerlendirme tekniklerini kapsayan keşfedici bir araştırmayı kapsamaktadır. Çalışmada Edirne’deki 58 konaklama işletmesinde çalışan toplam 157 kadın ile görüşülerek anket uygulanmıştır. Yapılan testler sonucunda Faktör Analizi ile beş alt boyut belirlenmiş ve katılımcıların işe alma, ücret ve terfi gibi konularda cinsiyet ayrımcılığına maruz kalmadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Katılımcılar cinsiyet ayrımcılığı yaşadıklarını belirtmeseler de sosyo-kültürel ayrımcılığın orta düzeyde var olduğu araştırma sonucunda tespit edilmiştir. Kadın çalışanların cinsiyet ayrımcılığı algılarının medeni durum, gelir seviyesi ve işletme tecrübesine göre anlamlı farklılıklar gösterdiği görülmüştür.
Tourism is a sector with a high female labor force due to its labor-intensive nature and suitability of working opportunities. In tourism sector, women could gain opportunities for achieving gender equality by strengthening their economic and social aspects. The purpose of the study is to determine whether the women labor in accommodation establishments are exposed to gender discrimination and the differences in their perceptions of gender discrimination according to demographic situations. The study contains an exploratory researchusing quantitative data collection and evaluation techniques. A questionnaire was implemented to157 women labor force in 58 accommodation establishments in Edirne. Factor analysis was performed and data was sorted into Five sub-dimensions. As a result of the research, it was determined that the women participants were not exposed to gender discrimination in terms of recruitment, wage and promotion. Although the participants did not admit that they experienced gender discrimination, it was determined that socio-cultural discrimination existed at a medium level. In addition, women employees' perceptions of gender discrimination differs significantly according to marital status, income level and business experience.
