Examining Family Stress as a Moderator in the Interplay Between Self-Efficacy and Quarter-Life Crisis Among Recent Graduates

Abstract

The journey marked by commencement takes graduates to a new realm where they struggle to find a job to support them both financially and career-wise. As a result, many recent graduates might undergo stress and anxiety pertaining to their life ahead, which is known as a quarter-life crisis. This study aims to determine whether family stress can moderate the relationship between self-efficacy and quarter-life crisis. Through purposive sampling methods, a sample size of 226 recent graduates was selected. The Family Inventory of Life Events and Changes (FILE), the Quarter Life Crisis Scale, and the Self Efficacy Scale were used for this study. The analysis was performed using the Hayes macro process analysis. The data processing results obtained a significance of int_1 of 0.0451 (p < 0.05). The t-value of -2.01 means that the hypothesis was accepted, this case proves family stress has no direct effect on quarter-life crisis, but rather is a moderator on the connection of self-efficacy and quarter life crisis.
