THE EFFECT OF CRITICAL THINKING EDUCATION ON CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING STUDENTS
Abstract
The aim of this study was improving the critical thinking skills of a group of university students. The study was carried out with 40 students between the ages of 19 and 22 studying at the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department of Uludag University. In order to test the efficiency of the critical thinking
education, the students were first given the critical thinking disposition inventory developed by Kökdemir (2003) and the experiment (20) and control (20) groups were assigned randomly. Throughout 10 weeks and in sessions of 90 minutes, the students in the experiment group were given the critical thinking education. At the end of the evaluations done as based on the points in the pretest, posttest and follow up test, it was seen that the critical thinking disposition points of the experiment group showed a significant difference, which was maintained during the follow up period as well.
