Adaptation of Fear Experiences Questionnaire to Turkish: the Validity and Reliability Study

Abstract

In this study the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Fear Experiences Questionnaire were investigated. For the construct validity of the questionnaire that was administered to a sample of 1087 adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years, exploratory, confirmatory, and hierarchic factor analyses were conducted. For internal criterion discriminant validity, high and low distinct group based t-test was conducted. For criterion-related validity, correlations between the questionnaire and six scales were analyzed. For the reliability of the questionnaire, the test was readministered after 7-10 days. The internal consistency was calculated with Cronbach alpha and McDonald’s coefficient Omega. The findings pointed out that the Fear Experiences Questionnaire can give both subscale scores and an overall fear score.

Korku Yaşantıları Ölçeğinin Türkçe’ye Uyarlanması: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması

Abstract

Bu çalısmada; ergenler için Korku Yasantıları Ölçegi’nin Türkçe formunun geçerlik ve güvenirligi arastırılmıstır. 12-17 yas aralıgındaki 1087 bireye uygulanan ölçegin yapı geçerligi için açıklayıcı, dogrulayıcı ve asamalı faktör analizleri yapılmıstır. İç ölçüte dayalı ayırt edici geçerlik için alt üst gruplara dayalı t testi kullanılmıstır. Ölçüt dayanaklı geçerlik için ise ölçegin 6 ölçek ile korelasyonları incelenmistir. Güvenirlik için 7-10 gün arayla ölçek tekrar uygulanmıstır. ç tutarlılık güvenirligi ise Cronbach Alfa () ve McDonald Omega () katsayıları ile hesaplanmıstır. Elde edilen bulgular Korku Yasantıları Ölçegi Türkçe formunun hem alt ölçek puanları hem de genel bir korku puanı verebildigini göstermistir.
