Abstract

Posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome PLES which is associated with acute elevations in blood pressure is a rare syndrome characterised by headache nausea vomiting confusion seizures and visual disturbances with spesific signs on brain images Here we report three patients with PLES Three patients who were on continous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis because of chronic renal failure were admitted with seizure headache and confusion They were 6 5 9 and 13 years old and had acute elevations in blood pressure By means of clinical and neuroradiological signs they were diagnosed with PLES While evaluating patients with chronic renal failure who have nausea vomiting confusion and visual disturbance accompanying hypertension PLES should be considered in the differential diagnosis and brain MR images should be searched for the specific findings Turk Arch Ped 2013; 48: 156 9

Hipertansiyona bağlı posterior lökoansefalopati sendromu: üç olgu nedeniyle

Abstract

Posterior lökoansefalopati sendromu ani kan basıncı artışına bağlı gelişen baş ağrısı bulantı kusma bilinç değişikliği görme bozukluğu havale geçirme ve özgül beyin görüntüleme bulguları ile belirgin nadir görülen bir hastalıktır Bu makalede posterior lökoansefalopati sendromu tanısı konulan üç olgu sunulmuştur Kronik böbrek yetersizliği nedeniyle sürekli ayaktan periton diyalizi uygulayan altı buçuk dokuz ve 13 yaşlarında üç kız hasta baş ağrısı havale geçirme ve bilinç değişikliği yakınmalarıyla başvurdu ve ani gelişen hipertansiyon saptandı Klinik ve nöroradyolojik görüntüleme bulguları ile posterior lökoansefalopati sendromu tanısı konuldu Kronik böbrek yetersizliği ile izlenen hastalarda hipertansiyona eşlik eden baş ağrısı bulantı kusma bilinç değişikliği görme bozukluğu ve havale geçirme yakınmaları varsa posterior lökoansefalopati sendromu akla getirilmeli ve özgül beyin görüntüleme bulgularını göstermek amacıyla manyetik rezonans istenmelidir.
