Abstract

The concept of power is the degree to which a member affects an event. French and Raven describe the concept of power as a decisive potential effect that exists in the relationship between two people. They divide this concept into six sub-categories: coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, expert power, referent power, and informational/persuasive power. This study will investigate the effect of the concept of the power between counsellors and their clients on the process by taking the therapeutic relationship in psychological counselling process. As a result of the literature review, the starting point of the study is a limited number of the studies related to this concept and lack of its definition in psychological counselling process. Disruption of interpersonal power balance gives us negative signals both for human relationships, and for the psychological counselling process, which also is a type of relationship. Being aware of the concept of power and ensuring the balance of power will strengthen the therapeutic relationship and will ensure that the process progresses in a healthy manner. Therefore, the concept of power is a situation where awareness needs to be gained. The definition of power concept in the psychological counselling process, the types of power, power poisoning, the concept of power in psychological counselling theories, and the effect of the changing power balance on the process are investigated in this study.

PSİKOLOJİK DANIŞMA SÜRECİNDE GÜÇ

Abstract

Güç kavramı, bir üyenin bir olaya etki etme derecesidir. French ve Raven, güç kavramını iki kişi arasındaki ilişkide kararlı potansiyel etki olarak tanımlanmıştır. Bu kavramı altı alt kategoriye ayırmışlardır: Zorlayıcı güç, ödül gücü, yasal ve meşru güç, uzman gücü, referans-özdeşim gücü, bilgi-ikna gücü. Bu çalışma da, psikolojik danışma sürecinde terapötik ilişki dikkate alınarak, danışan ve danışman arasındaki güç kavramının sürece etkisi incelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Çalışmanın çıkış noktası ise, yapılan literatür taramaları sonucunda bu kavramla ilgili çalışma sayısının az olması ve psikolojik danışma süreci kapsamında tanımlamasının olmayışıydı. Kişilerarası güç dengesinin bozulması, insan ilişkileri ve bununla birlikte bir ilişki çeşidi olan psikolojik danışma süreci için bizlere olumsuz sinyaller vermektedir. Güç kavramının farkında olunması ve güç dengesinin sağlanması, terapötik ilişkiyi güçlendirerek sürecin sağlıklı bir şekilde ilerlemesini sağlayacaktır. Bu yüzden güç kavramı, farkındalık kazılması gereken bir durumdur. Bu makale doküman analizi yönteminin kullanıldığı nitel bir çalışma olup; makalede psikolojik danışma sürecinde güç kavramının tanımı, güç çeşitleri, güç zehirlenmesi, psikolojik danışma kuramlarında güç kavramı ve değişen güç dengesinin sürece etkisi incelenmiştir.
