Dr. Chetara Epps is an accomplished social work educator, registered nurse, and higher education professional with more than 12 years of experience in academia and over nine years of collegiate teaching experience in online and face-to-face settings. She currently serves in higher education while also working part-time as a Registered Nurse Supervisor in a long-term care and rehabilitation facility.

Dr. Epps earned her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Mississippi Valley State University and her Doctor of Social Work degree from Capella University in 2020. In December 2024, she expanded her interdisciplinary expertise by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and becoming a Registered Nurse.

Her professional interests reflect an interdisciplinary commitment to social work, healthcare, education, mental health and service. Through her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Epps is committed to supporting students, advancing professional practice, and addressing the complex social and healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities.

A lifelong learner and dedicated professional, Dr. Epps values opportunities to travel, practice meditation, and enjoy retail therapy. She believes in the importance of laughter and often describes it as one of the things that keeps her going throughout the day. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 12 years, their two children, and their energetic four-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Chloe.
