Presence of the Gilthead Seabream in the Black Sea

Abstract

Gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata Linneaus 1758) is a rarely found species in the Black Sea, but there is an increase of occurrence as a by-catch in fish nets in recent years. In this study, an individual from the Middle Black Sea region is reported and some of its metric and meristic properties are presented and presence of this species is discussed.Keywords: Sparus aurata, Middle Black Sea, Ordu, metric, meristic.
