Principles of Publication

The media organ of Trakya University Faculty of Letters, TUJFL is an international refereed journal. The Journal of Faculty of Letters (TUJFL) has been published biannually on January and July since 2011.

Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters (TUJFL) aims to contribute to Turkish literature and scientific world through publishing original, national and international research articles which examine scientific issues and problems and offer solutions from all subfields of social sciences especially culture art, language, literature, history, art history, folklore, archeology, etc. It also aims to provide a fair basis for scientists having studies with aforementioned qualities to present their studies to scientific world as quickly as possible.  

The publication language of the journal is Turkey Turkish. However, the journal may include up to five articles in other Turkish dialects, Balkan languages and English. The publication prerequisite is the compliance of Turkish articles to the latest spelling rules of Turkish Language Society (TDK) and the articles in foreign language to the relevant spelling rules of that language. 

All intellectual, ethical, legal and other responsibilities of the published articles belong to their authors. All authors are also responsible for acquiring copyright permissions of all images, figures, tables, etc. used in their manuscripts. Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters is not responsible for any kind of legal problems arising from this issue.  

EVALUATION PROCESS OF ARTICLES

Original theoretical manuscripts, original research papers, documents and comments, practices or manuscripts on practices, evaluation papers and book reviews which are in accordance with publication rules in terms of content and form and produced in the field of social sciences and humanities can be submitted to TUJFL for publication. Case studies, essays, homework, reports, translations, announcements etc. are not accepted.

The manuscripts submitted to the journal are supposed that they have not been published in any other media organ or simultaneously submitted to any other media organ to be published. Unpublished proceedings presented in a scientific meeting can be accepted to the journal as long as mentioning this situation.

The name of author/authors, titles, the name of institution, ORCID number, address, e-mail and phone number should be proved on a cover page. In line with the double blind review process, articles are sent to the referees without author name. The review process is completed if the article gets positive responses and accepted by the referees. After this process, the name of author/authors and necessary information are added to the first page of the article organized according to journal publication principles.

The manuscripts are primarily objectively evaluated by the editorial board in terms of its accordance with publishing principles of Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters and content, language and narrative competence etc. Editorial board can ask revisions from authors; revised articles are the reevaluated by the editorial board, which also have the direct rejection right of submitted manuscripts and articles.

Editors take similarity (plagiarism) reports for manuscripts through softwares (Ithenticate, Turnitin etc.). Manuscripts are evaluated in editorial board with these reports. In case of high similarity rates, they may be rejected in this step.

In case of an absence of a cause for rejection, manuscripts are sent to at least two referees who are experts in the field through double blind method (through removing the names and upper data of authors). Evaluation processes of manuscripts are conducted through double blind method in each step.

Referees are not paid for copyright fees.

Editorial board may assign new referee to replace the one failing to evaluate submitted manuscripts in due time.

Referees may decide as “can be published”, “can be published after revision”, “should be reviewed after revision” or “rejected”. Manuscripts should be resubmitted to the referee demanding review after revision.

Manuscripts successing referee evaluations are taken into final evaluation by the editorial board of Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters. Editorial board decides to publish or reject manuscripts with unanimity or large majority. The justification for the rejection of manuscripts are notified to their authors by the editor of the journal on behalf of editorial board. Rejected manuscripts will not be taken into reevaluation in future issues. For the accepted manuscripts, the suggestions of editorial board and referee reports are sent to the authors in order for them to give final forms to the manuscripts.

Manuscripts are published in the journal according to the application date and the completion order of publishing process.

COPYRIGHT REGULATION

Authors are one and solely responsible for the opinions and suggestions in manuscripts, compliance with ethical rules, accuracy of references and their accurate use. In case of suspicions on those issues, the Editorial Board of Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters has the right to unpublish the manuscript, remove it from network access page and notify relevant authorities and indexes through commencing necessary investigation.  

Ethical, legal and all other responsibilities of published manuscript belong to its author.

Authors are not charged with any fee. Copyright fee is not paid to authors. When notified about the acceptance of their manuscripts, authors should fill “Copyright Form” and upload it to the system on DERGIPARK. Manuscripts are not published until this form is uploaded to Journal Management System.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Accepting beneficial results of effective prevalence of knowledge, Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters adopts open access providing policy.

Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative accepted on 12th September 2012. Within this regard, policies adopted by our journal can be accessed at  http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/boai-10-translations/turkish-translation.

Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters are not bought or sold in exchange for money, authors are not charged with article processing or delivery fees.

ARCHIVING

Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters supports LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which is a safe and persistent archiving system via Open Journal System.

LOCKSS system is developed in Stanford University Library and is an open-source coded software enabling archiving newly issued contents of registered journals regularly collected in libraries on web access pages. Each archive protects data from any loss in library system and other memory cache is used for data supply in case of corruption or loss.

PLAGIARISM POLICY


Manuscripts sent from 15.02.2024 onwards can be uploaded after being scanned in the Dergipark system by intihal.net. If the editor does not find the result from the intihal.net program sufficient, he or she may request a scanned report from other plagiarism programs such as Ithenticate, Turnitin, etc., or the editor will scan the report and upload it. Manuscripts are evaluated with these reports in editorial board. Editors may contact with authors for manuscripts with high similarity rates. Manuscripts can be rejected to be published due to high similarity ratesManuscripts sent to Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters for evaluation should not have been published or submitted for evaluation to any other journals, books, etc. Authors should provide certificate of authenticity while submitting their manuscripts.  For manuscripts produced from using or expanding any other published or presented different source, authors should clearly specify this issue in foot notes added to the title of study and give bibliographical record. Upon detecting plagiarism in manuscripts, the editor of the journal has the right to apply necessary sanctions. Manuscripts can be rejected for this reason. In case of any plagiarism suspicion for a published manuscript, Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters will remove it from web page and notify relevant authorities and indexes through commencing necessary investigation.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

The responsibilities of authors and editorial boards in accordance with publishing policies of Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters regarding withdrawal of manuscripts in publishing process are as follows:

Authors should carry out withdrawal process of their studies accepted after referee process, taken into online-first process or in evaluation process with the editor of the journal.

For withdrawing a study in evaluation process, authors should fill Withdrawal Form and deliver its original signed and scanned form to journal editorship via direct-mail or on journal management system on DERGIPARK. Authors cannot send their studies in this process to any other journal for evaluation unless it is approved by the Editorial Board.

In case of any suspicion for copyright or unethical issues, the Editorial Board of Trakya University Journal of Faculty of Letters may commence investigations on relevant studies in published or online-first form or in evaluation process. Upon determining an unsuitable situation for copyright or research ethics as a result of investigation, the editorial board can withdraw manuscripts from evaluation and notify investigation result to the author.

Upon determining an unsuitable situation for copyright or research ethics in a published or online- first manuscript as a result of investigation, the editorial board applies following withdrawal and notification procedures:

1.   The clause “Withdrawn” is added in front of the title of study accessed on electronic media.

2.   Abstract and Full Text links on electronic media is replaced with withdrawn reasons and (if any) the declarations of institutions or organizations of authors about the issue.

3.  “Withdrawn: Study Title” is added to the table of contents of published and electronic copy of the first issue to be published after withdrawal date; from the first page, the reasons for withdrawal and original quotations providing reference are shared with public and researchers.

4. Aforementioned withdrawal notifications are sent to institutions and organizations indexing the journal and National Library of Turkey in order to be recorded in index systems and catalogues.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

Names and electronic mail addresses in the website of this journal will be used for stated purposes of this journal. They will not be used for any other reasons and in any other parts.
