An Examination of the United Kingdom "Nasti News" Short Film Propaganda Against "Lord Haw-Haw" Radio Propaganda in Nazi Germany

Year 2020, Volume: 5 Issue: 9, 334 - 355, 23.01.2020

Abstract

Nazi Germany effectively exploited radio broadcasts against the Allied States for propaganda purposes. In particular, Nazis broadcasted on The United Kingdom to break down the war resistance of British people and undermine the power of Allied propaganda in the British public. At this stage, Nazis commissioned the British-born British William Joyce under the pseudonym Lord Haw-Haw to perform Nazi propaganda broadcasts against The United Kingdom. Firstly, the role of radio broadcasts in Nazi propaganda and the use of radio as a counter propaganda tool in the Second World War were tried to be revealed within the scope of the study, examining Lord Haw-Haw's radio propaganda extensively. Then, Nasti News propaganda short films prepared by Allied States against Lord Haw-Haw in 1940 were examined using semiotic analysis. Thus, it was aimed to explain how the Allied States made propaganda in order to reduce the propaganda effect of the radio broadcasts of Nazi Germany in this study. In the findings of the study, it was revealed that the propaganda activities of the Allied States attempted to discredit the Nazi regime and call Joyce as traitor who cooperated with Nazi Germany, using a humorous style.

Nazi Almanyası'nda "Lord Haw-Haw" Radyo Propagandasına Karşı İngiltere'nin "Nasti News" Kısa Film Propagandası Üzerine İnceleme

Year 2020, Volume: 5 Issue: 9, 334 - 355, 23.01.2020

Abstract

Ardından 1940 tarihinde Lord Haw-Haw'a karşı Mütttefik Devletleri'nce
