Abstract

Yakın-Şark'la Amerika'nın alâka ve münasebetinin II. Dünya harbinden sonra ziyadesile artmış bulunması, bu memlekette, Yakın-Şark tarihi il alâkadar müesseselerin ve yayınların büyük ölçüde artması neticesini vermiştir. Columbia Üniversitesinde (New York) Near and Middle East Institute profesörlerinden J. C. Hurewitz, bölgenin yakın tarihi üzerinde esaslı neşriyâtı ile temayüz etmiş olup yarılamış bulunduğu bu eser, Türkiye tarihi ile uğraşanlar için hususi bir ehemmiyet taşımaktadır. Prof. Hurewitz bu eserde, 1535-1956 yılları arasında Yakın-Şark tarihinin mühim diplomatik vesikalarını bu iki ciltte toplamağa çalışmıştır.
